Sounds great man! I think the rhythm guitars are little sizzly, but not too bad. They're right on the edge of being too much. I'd like to hear maybe a tiny more meat in them. That's just me though. Vocals are fantastic. Excellent job. :)

Yeah, the gits do have a sizzle...if I ever do retouch the mix I'l take care of that. ;) Guess I wanted the song to sound really mean...:D

This is my 3rd version of the song now since last February, so I'll definitely let it lie for now.

I will listen to this one tomorrow when I get out with my laptop and update her. I can't stream on the ship because of silly gov't bandwidth restrictions. The Navy has T-1 now. We still have the equivalent of dial-up... :eek:
 
I really like the song. I agree with everyone on the vocals being killer. All in all, I think it is a great recording. The only thing that really stuck out to me was the drums. Sounds like an SR16 or something. What were you using for the drums? They just sound a little too synthetic and processed. To me it kinda kills the vibe of the song. Other than that, I love it. It is like all of the best parts of Soundgarden, AIC, The Cult, and a few other great bands. Good work!
 
I just got a dirty look from my boss as he walked by my office. I may have got a little carried away with the volume.................fuck'em this song rocks!
I can't wait to get home and blast this in the studio. Awesome voice dude!
 
I tried for like 2 days to figure out how to download it without asking. lol...the HUGE link is not the right link. I finally figured it out.

That's a great recording of a very well performed tune. Seriously good.

My only issue with the recording is probably due to my own hearing loss...the vocals at the beginning (when they're high/low passed)...I have difficulty making out the lyrics a bit. I think if just a LITTLE bit of gain came off of the rhythm guits, it'd be perfect. But it sounds like you've messed with this a lot, and nobody else seems to be having trouble with it, so take it for what it's worth from a deaf guy. :D

The drums are Addictive drums. This would deserve real drums but unfortunately I'm not equipped to record real ones. My main problem is always the snare. I keep trying different ones and am never really happy....:(

Chris, listening to your stuff it's hard to imagine you have problems with your hearing...your stuff sounds amazing. You're right about the gain on the gits though. I'll have to check that again.

OK, so it's not just me. I was too embarrassed to say I couldn't figure out how to listen to this. I kept just getting a page about downloading the ring-tones.

I'm at work now, and I'm able to see the stream, which I don't see at home.




Well, as everyone else said, this is sooo well done. Love the vocal production, and the guitar sound is killer. Great tune overall.

well, I have to feel a little silly now since AD is the program I use as well. I don't understand why I think they sound synthetic. Are all of the hits the same velocity? I had that problem for a while because my midi controller wasn't velocity sensitive so all of my beats sounded like a drum machine. I had to go back and fix the velocity hits by hand on the midi editor. It was a pain. I don't think it ruins your recording by any means. I think I am just too picky.
 
I'm a bit of a newb, so can't comment on the mix really. Just wanted to say that I think it sounds amazing! Very Soundgarden/Audioslaveish (who i'm a massive fan of too).

So great job! Vocals are outstanding!!

No, you're right about them sounding synthetic...nothing beats a real drummer. And I myself am no drummer so I can never programme them perfectly. I just try to do my best. I do fix the velocity hits by hand, but maybe not enough. Well maybe one day....;)

So do what I do: record with the AD and then beg one of the very talented drummers on here for a track. At least it used to work. Now I probably won't get squat because I let the cat out of the bag... :o

Yup, I'd love that.....:)

It's just that I see it as a challenge to be able to get e realistic drumsound, like for example Marcadiablo does. I'm not giving up yet...:D
 
sounds good, definately AIC, and Sound Garden vibe. I think the drums are the only thing lacking in this mix. Not enough punch to them. Very good for programmed drums however. The vox are perfect. Nice job, totally could see this on an AIC album.
