You have the sound nailed. It just sounds really cool. I don't know how to make a recording sound like that. Those guitar always sound very good. :)

The playing and composition is also very cool. Is that you singin'. Very cool sounding vox.

How do you get the guitar to be so clean on the duh duh duhs (around 3:08). Less dist. with good noise gate? Or do expensive pick ups sound just like that.

The bass does a good rounding on the rhythm gits.

Yeah that's me screaming my ass off......
I actually turn the gain a bit less than half the way down. It took a lot of experimenting to get to that guitar sound. I tweaked and EQ'd until I couldn't any more...:D But at least it's close to what I want. And my EPIPHONE made it easier. It has the standard Epi Pu's. I never use a gate , I always edit every single track and cut the noise in between out. Bass has some good gain too which made it easier to blend in with the rythm guitars. The bass I record with an amp miced with an SM57 and direct thru DI. I then blend the 2sounds together.

Thanks again for the comments! ;)

Joe :):)

Joe--you wanna call this wrapped up? I think you can! It sounds awesome. It sounds commercial! And I don't mean that in the "you sold out, man!" way--but in the "tightly played and well recorded in a big-time studio" way.

Great work!

Wow, thanks Bob!

I actually had good feelings about this mix, probably for the first time since I started recording! Man, I love my EPI!
Big time studio ?? ...got a long way to go.....I hope in this lifetime :D

Cheers
Joe :) :)

LOL, I used to do the exact same thing on my guitar tracks. I would go in between each duh duh and remove the noise. But I figured there has to be a better method. :) I will probably do the same thing again when I start recording again.

Good to know that SM57 can be used to a sound like this. I have one of those. I finally spent the money to buy a real mic. :D.

I was listening to Like the Wind and Chosen and some others. You have a part Bruce Dickinson thing going in some songs. Part Iron Maiden in the gits also. Which is ..... errr.... Aces High!

Yeah, Maiden have a special place in my heart and they bring back nice memories. They're really down to earth nice guys. :) :)

Hi, Joey

First time I listened (yesterday night and tired ears) I had the impression the drums were a bit low in the mix.

I listened with a bit more volume today and sounds nice.Great guitars and vocal job.
When vocal starts mix seems a bit narrow panning (due to hi hat in the center,maybe)just an opinion;

Overall good job, buddy.;)

Thanks Ciro!
coming from a class musician like you, that's a great compliment, really appreciate it! ;):)

I like it. The vocals are awesome. Don't think I can really add anything to what has been said. Just wanted to say I enjoyed it.

Sweet

VERY enjoyable. the blended bass works a treat - should be an exemplar of the benefits of that M.O.
You've nailed it. The effected vox are particularly good - not overdone.
I like the trippy guitar lines too.
Joey, you rock!

Holy Sh!!!!T!!!!  Frikkin awesome. :D

(and I always give an honest opinion)

The mix seems hot up top on my speakers - I think the guitars have a harsh edge, and maybe the cymbals as well. Vocals are great - they remind me of AIC. Let me rephrase that - vox are superb. Great tune and composition. Good job

FOOK ME WHAT A VOICE !!!!!!!!!!!!! great intonation, expression (bet you heard it a million times in your career) and should be gracing the airwaves with its awesome metal tones, lurrrve the harmonies...

no nits with mix, you obviously know what your doing...

very good job with the guitars, they sound REALLY beefy

btw put a link to your excellent myspace page in your profile

Ido, Chili, Bulls Hit and cakewalkKaKed,
Thanks to all of you for the comments! :) :)

The gits do have a somewhat harsh edge, I guess they're at the limit. But I was going after e very aggressive sound.
A million times??? A few times yeah, but I don't let it go to my head, because one can never be good enough. We learn something new every day. I always say to myself that there are plenty of better singers out there. That keeps me wanting to get better. ;)
I've put the myspace link in my profile now. I'll add any of you that want to be added.....

Cheers
Joe :D:D

Sounds very fine to me, the vocals are just about perfect as usual! I'm hearing a bit of Soundgarden with the vocals and especially that leslie sounding guitar in there.
This sure tells me I have a lot to learn with my recording & mixing......:o

Joey!!!! Man, oh man, you got da pipes...and the rest of the band talent too!

This is awesome man!! Such energy and showmanship...and I couldn't even see you...cept in my mind's eye and let me tell ya, you rocked!!! Excellent performance!

I think you are just masquerading as a Maltese Camel Trader, no?:D

Thanx Tony!
Don't worry, we're all still learning..... ;)
The leslie sounding guitar in the intro is a flanger on on 2 of the guitar tracks.
Yes the inspiration from Soundgarden and Audioslave is quite evident....:D
I'm a big fan of Chris Cornell, now that's a singer....

Cheers
Joe :D:D
