Here are my reviews of the Oct-Nov challenge songs that have been posted so far.

Set Free - Cnix

Good song! After Charlie's self-deprecating comments before he posted, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised! Nice, clean mix, good vocals, and solid musicianship. I especially liked the final minute or so with the soaring guitar-synths and ad-libs. I'm impressed! Good work! Post more often!

Gone - Strat1958

Good song! I like unique songs like this where it is nearly impossible to define the genre. This has elements of country, rock, and folk. Excellent mix, good musicianship, and nice arrangement. The vocals are some of Mike's best ever! Good work!

Emptiness - Gecko Zzed

Excellent song! This one has a nice 70s feel to it, with good variability throughout. I really like the key change toward the end. I can easily imagine this song as a Top 40 radio hit back in the 70s. My favorite line in the song, probably because of the way it was pulled off, was "I canna find the words..." Good stuff!

During last year's challenge, I thought Gecko and Burt were very close there at the top of the class. Of the songs I've heard this year, I think Mike (Gecko) has the best song, with good competition from Mike (Strat) and Charlie. Great work, Gecko!

Yellow Dress - Nzausrec

Relaxing song with an acoustic-alternative feel. It has an atmosphere similar to The Cranberries and The Sundays. Good stuff, NZ.

Emptiness - Louisv

Emptiness - Upfiddler

Final comments: I was very impressed with most of the productions and mixes I listened to. You guys inspire me to continue working to learn the art of EQ balancing, production, and mixing. Thanks for your contributions, my friends. I enjoyed listening! I wish we all had more time! Heh. ;-)

Thanks for the reviews Joseph.
