Its called Grey Mood. Not my usual style but Im not sure what my style really is anyway. Maybe its better that way. The rythum is without a pick, the lead is with a pick. Sung by John Nichols. We were going to put drums and bass to it but decided not to.

Ok so if you like his vocals then you might like this one too. Its called Freedom.

I decided to put the "fadeout" backing vocal in the end myself at the last minute. And he liked it so it stayed.

Sorry, no animation intended for these. Not full on enough. Not yet anyway.

Nice tune, Scott.

What mics did you use on the classicals?
They have a nice warm tone to them, and they were put well in the mix.

I thought the vocals could have been more pronounced.
They sound a little too far back in the mix, and could have used more "presence" on them via reverb or mic placement maybe.

Very tasty lead work, fit right in with the tune.

Good Job as usual.

Thanks mate.
On the classical guitar I used a 57 near the bridge and a Rode classic II about two feet out from the neck. And used the Rode for the vocals too.
On the steel acoustic in the second song I used the rode. Its my only condensor mic. Licky its a good one. But I could still do with some variation in condensors. Even though the rode is multipaturn. I think I need some small diaphram condensors.

the nylon is just lovely...

the voice it sounds a bit thin.. at least in these crap-o-headphones. I'll listen through my monitors tomorrow.

nice sound on the guitars....really warm and nice sounding. The vocals sound good too (performance wise), but sound a tad out of context to the guitars...like they are not being performed at the same time/same room...kinda feel. If they where a little warmer...or the guitars a little "brighter"...or maybe a more pronounced common reverb, it might make it *gel* together a bit more. I like it, however. Good job. .....now go bury it in reverb :D:D !!! naw!!!

Yeh, on the first song I tried to get a contrast with warm guitar and bright vocal which I succeeded in but now that you mention it I think I should have gelled them a bit closer. The vocal on that one is just straight rode classic II, no compression no reverb (as you noticed) just doubled plus some harmonies. However the second song does have a lot of reverb on his voice with bits of echo here and there.
By the way the guitar is a Kyari handmade flemenco. Sounds killer in the room just by itself.
