Slightly off topic but it had been mentioned....
Said it before and I'll say it again...
SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum pro. Yes its good for games, and movies. And surpringly by what is written in this forum, there is nothing wrong with it for music.
You know how I know this?
Because I actually use one for recording.
Every.

Day.
I get no latencyl, and my music sounds professional enough. There is certainly no obvious home made quality to it. I take a lot of pride in the production of my music, and if I thought it was limiting me, I would get something else. Music is my life, I'm not going to let myself be limited over a few hundred quid. And I'm not rich either. I have to work for what I want like everyone else.
However I see no need to change.
There is always the theory that a bad workman blames his tools. Not that its always true, but you can see where I'm going.
There are a lot of purists out there who beleive that if something is multifunctional, and not solely dedicated to a certain function, then it aint going to be any good at that certain function. They are especially going to be bitter if someone can pull off what they can using cheaper equipment. Sure maybe the uber expensive music cards out there may have a something a little extra, but I wouldnt pay the extra for it. In fact even with a higher salary the last thing I would consider is changing my card because I have never once noticed a single problem or limitation with it for what I am doing. In fact the only thing on my setup I would desparately like to change is to get some flat nice monitors. Everything else is great.
However if you have an Audigy without the interface hub then yes, its going to piss you off. Thats nothing to do with the inner workings though.
