New Quarter mp3

"visit" JamusHE

I've been dumping all this old stuff I did to disk. This was from my first solo album. Man I gotta say, these new mixes are killer compared to the old casette mixes I did. I colud never get the dynamics I wanted to hear In this song until now. Plus using software and some nice plugins... check out the Ultrafunk reverbs on this one! I finally found THE reverb plug-in.

This was tracked live. I tried to do everything live back then, kept it real. The last line I overdubbed, and you hear the bleed from the guitar mic too, so it's (happily) accidentally doubled. You'll here some alarm clock noise, in there, I don't know where it came from, I could take it out, but.... It would kill that sweet tape hiss. :D

I'm going to put all this stuff out, three disks of it... I'll post some of the other mixes too, I think as a whole this body of my work is the strongest, back when recording was of necessity, not priority. I didn't care what equipment I used back then, just used what I had.
57 on guitar, ATM41HE on vox, and a line in. Three tracks, first take...

and yes, the title is a nod to Led Zepplin.

Yeah, I don't see New Quarter in your dropbox, or any of the other shared folders.

It's in storage guys, sorry about that... it is shared though. IT is now on ampcast. I'll change the link...

this will be easier to find and may be a quicker download....

Cool. Puts ya in a mood. Maybe a little more variety in the melody of the vocals. Moody songs need emotional his and lows. But that's just opinion. How could you not call it new quarter....perfect. How I love a song that puts me in a mood.

Found it....downloading...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Allright baby.

Mmmmm MMMM yeaaaaah.

C'mone naow.

It's in the goods.

Reminds me of Smog. I likes Smog.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!

That's cool rats. I've never heard Smog but I know vagely who they are (or who he is) I think the Flaming lips did a cover of one of there tunes..

This is defintly one of the more moodier songs from back then. There are part's that are almost note for note some of the organ parts in "NO Quarter". it was unintentional, so yes Roktuk, I had no choice but to call it "New Quarter" - i thought I was clever... :)

I think I'm tuned pretty low. I never used a tuner back then, it's dropped D, but it might be closer to a C. you know I can't even sing that low that well anymore! my voice is higher now somehow. I think I'll record a new version to see how that feels. I can't really pull this off anymore though, it's hard to play something THAT slow...

it's a touch long isn't it? but does it feel to long?

the last line just kills me.
