Ok, so LauraC and I and a lot of MR-8 users want compression and normalizing, I think....
I'd say that probably like with other MR-8 owners, I tend to favor the low priced stuff. With that in mind, what are our hardware and software, analog and digital choices as far as signal processing for a tighter range in signal volume levels in the final mix?
(for under $100,

just kidding)
And another question, it's a little late here so I hope I read this all right, if my dynamic range is too great, meaning I have data I want to keep at a very low level, but i have peaks that are at the max level, then I'll want compression, but if I have everything a little too low, then I want normalizing, (unless there is normalizing that is non-linear and adjustable) yes?
If i want normalizing i'm talking about transferring the waves i need to change to pc for software normalizing (what software?) but if i want compression, then i have choices of analog signal chain from the preamp to analog compressor, or digital compressor, or compression after the recording of the track dgigtally thru software or back to analog using hardware, then back to digital or analog mixing.
And finally, i found i have an old alesis nanocompressor and i remember it was noisy. thow it away? i'd hate to f up the nice clean sound i'm getting on the MR-8 now....
