No Way Out

If you want to make it rock, you have to get a real drummer and kit. Adding an extra layer or 2 of rythm guitar would help out too.
I'd also try a darker mic on the vocals. It seems a little brittle up top. And push harder too.

Too bad it's 2004 and not 1984, otherwise this song could be a real hit.

Edit: I just heard the alternate version. I think it's better than the one labeled "newest version". It definately rocks harder, due to the layering of the guitar. The drums sound "bigger" too. Still not as good as having a real kit though.

I agree a real kit is better, and so is having a real drummer, but some of us, myself included, don't have access to them. I use my drum machines, and make sure that I nail the sound while tracking. I play with compression and eq after the fact. It's not perfect, but it works for me. Did you get a chance to look at my songs? I desperately need help with them too! I get lots of people looking, but no one wants to comment...

Brummy, the newest version is sooooo much better! I would do something about the abrupt ending of the guitar solo, though. I wish I could play like that! I was into it until it just ended. Just a thought!

yeah ive pm'd you about your songs, will post my thoughts very shortly....good tho.

nice song... its not what i normally listen but it was refreshing.

im not an experience mixer myself by any means but it sounds pretty good... good job on the vocals, thats probably the song's strongest aspect.

i'd mess with the tone of the rhythm guitar, or just where it is in the mix i guess? i dont know... something about it just kind of bugs me or something. mess with it i guess... sorry i cant put my finger on it.

for kicks and giggles you might see if theres someone on these boards that might lay some real drum tracks for you for fun... i know some people have worked together on projects here before.

good luck
