Hello. I have a p4 2.53ghz-1g ram -120g HD-Soundblaster live card-Tascam 122 interface-Cakewalk Home 2002-Win xp-Yamaha S80 synth.I cannot get the settings in sounds and audio devices in control panel to show device sound and midi volume. everything is greyed out. I can record a midi in HS and try to play it back through the tascam and it will not make a sound. I have reinstalled the driver for tascam, checked all cables. When I change all back to soundblaster it works but not through us 122 I have direct monitoring turned on and cables from line out to powered speakers.Everything is right as far as I know in HS options, midi and audio settings they are all set to us122.I have done a wave profile and turned off firewall and virus.I have went to device manager and all looks good.I cannot find anything about asio driver anywhere if that pertaines to me. I need someones help. Thanks

you might have a usb problem. this sounds stupid as hell. but turn off your computer. unplug the us122 from the usb port. turn on the computer uninstall everything for the us122. turn off your computer again and plug the us122 into the other usb port then start all over again.

it worked for me but if it doesnt for you call tascam. and if you do call tascam post their tech support number in this thread cuz i dont know if i should call teac or frontier and tascams damn help forums are down.

good luck

I got alot of help from PG Music

Thats the company that makes Band In A Box and also sells some other MIDI sequencing softwear..........after installing VSC3 and making a few changes in my windows audio settings I think things are much improved! I did not have a chance to really test this all out yet but I am pretty confident that things are off to a better start.

I found out that Yes, the US-122 IS indeed the new soundcard.........I have my monitors plugged into the red and white connectors on the back of it.......the main thing is telling windows to use the US-122 by default..for both the recording and the playback device...i was doing that but it really did not work til I installed Roland VSC3 (that came with my Band in a Box program.

Everything seems like it might work out.

The only cords going into things are these:

The US 122 goes to the USB port
The monitors are in the red and white connectors on the back
My mic is plugged into the 2nd hole from the left in the front (the one marked Line/Guitar In

I have Phantom power on cause i think its a condenser mic but I am not certain right now if it needs to be.

Hope this helps! I know i face more challenges when I actually start to record things, though.

Tascam Forums were not help to me

Neither was calling the place that sold me this thing (musicians friend).

PG Music had a LIVE on line tech there and he provided most of the answers without ever even hearing of a Tascam US-122. I think his name was Gray.

Go to pgmusic.com -- they don't know anything about the tascams but they are good at telling you what to try to get it to work.

They're newest version of Band in a Box comes with the VSC3 program that solved my problems. Also the new version does vocal harmonies ontop of audio vocals and thats pretty neat, but a little scarey, to hear all these electronic things singing along with ya.
