I have a sound board and everything but i cant connect my amp to my sound board because i dont have a direct out on it and therefore it makes my recordings sound horrible, what am i able to do

uuh....if it doesnt have a direct out...how are you recording it?

Does it have an insert?

If not, then your next option is to get a Mic+preamp and do it the "old fashioned" way.

ive just been plugging my guitar in the sound board but it just sounds really blocky so i need obviously need affects

Im just guessing here, but i think you can buy a DI (Direct In) Box and then plug your guitar in that and then the DI into your sound card, i know this works for Mixers, not sure about sound cards.

What inputs/outputs does your guitar amp have?

Yeah, you will either need a DI Box (Im not 100% sure on this) or get yourself a Preamp, and a Mic and record the speaker of the Amp.

Your Amp wont allow to send a line level signal out, just a speaker out...which should never be plugged into your computer.

ha yeah thats alot of big words but ill try and figure it out. thanks alot though

use a mic! your behri mixer has preamps, so mic your amp...any dynamic mic will do such as a sm58, sm57 or some other lower quality mic if you are on a very low budget....you will get a better sound, i'm assuming you are using an electric guitar here in which case a DI box won't really help you

couldnt i also get like a computer amp to help with affects or does anyone have any other ideas

"Affect" = EFFECT

lol....

Your amp does have a headphone jack. Try pluging a 1/4" cable from that to one of your lines in. It will suck, regardless of how you do it though. But that should sound better.

dannybananie,
As seryozha said, miking/micing/mousing ( :D ) up the speaker might give you the best result for your setup. Even a bog standard Shure SM57 aimed at the speaker and plugged into your mixer will enable you to get sufficient level for a fairly decent recording.

to use a amp for recording without outputs

Put about a million Ohm resister from the + positive side of your speaker to the + positive input of sound card or tape. negitive of speaker to - negitive side of sound card or tape ..best and most acurate sound i've found yet to capture to true and correct sound of a guitar amp....

I record live bands and have made little boxes with 1 million ohm resister with aligator clips that conect to the speakers .rthym .bass. lead all from backs of there amps...I even made a multitude of boxes with different conections that I put in one of the frount house speaker lines and draw the vocals .

I only mike the drums.

In recording big powerfull amps they don't start making a great sound until wound up fairly well and the recording gets to hot .... so a fix for this problem I made more little boxes with adjust Pots ..3 million Ohm audio taper and just simply turn the pot up when the siginal gets to hot .

remeber that what you here is crap That's exactly what you get back
