bukky....

I saw that other thread. You know the one, where you asked for opinions of your classic track. You can't take criticism that well either can you?

Learn to sing in tune sonny.

You big smelly pooh.

Anyways, I only came on for a bit of advice about a new hobbie. My first attempts and I've been slughtered as if I'm bloody Saddam!! So I came over all cocky. Well I know fuck all about 'home recording' protocol do I? So I've been tought a lesson or two.

C'mon, I'm just starting out. Gimme a break. OK, I'm shit so then I can only get better. At least gimme some credit for having the balls to post my stuff eh? It's not a frigging wind up or a joke

For fucks sake, gimme a frigging chance!

promise

and I promise NEVER to post any more of my shit music.

There, you all happy now?

I'm off for a good old sulk and a pint of Boddingtons. Maybe I ought to stick to something I'm good at.

(I'd piss on you all at pool).

So there.

Goodbye.

Dude, in the nicest way I can say it, this doesn't reflect commercial talent,...

but for just having fun with music & recording it's fine. Why don't you focus more on the immediacy of making & recording music, instead of focusing on "making it".

Like it or not, these recordings show the need for a lot of "honing" of your skills, but that's what practice, time & paying your dues is all about. Whatever "it" is, "it" doesn't happen overnight.

Very seldomly do you hear of a breakout child prodigy, who took to music and found stardom overnight. Who was the last one,... maybe Michael Jackson or "Little" Stevie Wonder?

And for sound recording & engineering, it's obvous you've just gotten your first recording rig, and you're still coming to terms with how to capture a decent sound onto disc. Don't give up on that. However discouraging this post may seem, I think you shoud just hang in there and have fun with it, in the immediate sense, without focusing on "making it".

;)

And one other thing......most of the responses you got were rather restrained. Yes a couple of folks were a little mean about it but you did come in talking it up, so you have to expect that. But the bulk of the responses were polite even though they didn't care for your stuff.
Believe me, I've had people tell me stuff I've done sounds like crap and I don't get offended. I just laugh and go nail their wife!

Humbled

I have learnt a valuable lesson I think. And anyone who thinks that making music is easy (like I did) is in for a shock. It's not easy at all and I realize you got to work at it.

I've been watching too much reality pop stuff I think. You all brought me down to earth.

Cheers, Paul

Your Music

Sounds like you have a passion for doing music. You have to start somewhere. There is nothing wrong with being an beginner. If you really love it, keep working at it.

I mentioned this before and I think it is good advice: Find a CD of an artist that you like and try to "copy" what you hear.

If you can make yourself sound like a professional chances are you're on your way to being one.

One more thing. Some of the people on these boards are "very" talented and/or educated in their craft. So don't expect to get rave reviews from folks who have poured their lives into music when you have only just begun.

I've been a church organist for over 20 years and I'm still learning. I've come here to learn as well.

Cheesy,
I have no problem taking critism at all, just because I disagree with somebody's comments, doesn't mean I'm a sulker like yourself. I'll tell you what though, I'll give you credit for admitting to the board and yourself that you were a naive kid thinking he could meake it big. That takes some sort of balls to admit you're wrong, but as somebody else said, when you come in here waving your dick around, it's your own fault. And really please don't call me a big smelly pooh again, that type of language offends me...

Badgerer, thanks for the advice, I know what you mean about the upper range, it is definately pushing it, yet we tried changing keys and the song lost a lot of emotion...maybe we should just tune 1/2 step down...looks like it's back to the studio again!

Cheesy, you're cool. That's got a real nice "Booker T & the MSG's" kinda groove. And your spelling and grammar have improved considerably since the thread started - looks like that tuition money is paying off!

I come clean....

OK! I come clean before I leave this forum for good. I was having a bit of a joke really. Actually, I'm not crap at all and am quite established composer in my field. I can play guitar and sing actually really well. But, I guess one or two of you knew that already yes?

Guess you all feelin pretty stupid now eh? Particularly Bukky!

I have worked with lots of well known names in the Bishop Stortford area and have played in several pubs too. I also own a Epiphone Les Paul. My mum says I sing like an angel!

Hear my real music here:

This is a track called 'I love music'. I am singing, playing guitar AND doing production!!!!

Enjoy!

cheesyrecipe,

ah, your humor has such depths and levels, it's like peeling an onion, which is a really cool metaphor actually because your humor is so advanced and sophisticated and has such depth that yea, even while we laugh, we cry, just like peeling an onion would do, make you cry I mean, oh yes! I wish I could study with you, watch you at work, learn from you...

it can be arranged

No problem. Be happy to help!
