Alright, so i'm building my own studio. I was wondering what gear to start out with. Should i invest into getting a new Mac desktop, considering the laptop i'm using now does not have the power to run any DAW... Or should i start with mics? Preamps? Audio interfaces? My budget is slim, but i would rather buy right first. So no crappy equipment. I'm all about quality. I'm a solo acoustic artist, but i intend to add drums, piano, synths, ect. to my tracks. I need suggestions on what mics and preamps to buy. I was looking at the KSM44 and the SMB7. Need inputs. :thumbs up:
And my room is hardwood floor.. will that hinder my quality or make it better?

Do some reading before buying anything - try all the stickys at teh top of each section of the forums here. If you don't have a computer capable of running a DAW (almost any fairly-new computer can), then that would be the first step - no sense in having a bunch of equipment with nothing to plug into!

I've sorta stated this before ( somewhere..lol)..If I had to start over again and since you are at this stage, I'll get my room sounding good before I invest in any gear..Next, the best set(s) of monitors I could afford..After getting your room sounding good with good monitors, you can evaluate gear and feel confident that you are hearing the gear at it's best.!.May even find that some of the " budget" gear will do the job once it's auditioned in a room that's letting you "hear the thruth"..Good luck

Thanks everyone! I'll be sure to keep you updated. Plus I might need extra help :)
