Say Something Smart!
Hello everyone.
I'm looking for a preamp, and I think I've settled on the ART Tube to start.

Now, I want to run the mic into it via XLR, but I want the output to be via 1/4" so I can run it into my Delta 44.
Is this possible?

Thanks.

yep

... if i'm not mistaken, i believe the art tube mp has both xlr and 1/4 inch outs. i'm not sure if it is a balanced out, or if your soundcard has a balanced in. either way, it will work, but if they aren't balanced 1/4 in's and outs, then you don't need a balanced 1/4 cable. just use a short unbalanced cable.
peace- jv

Okay, I'll have to do some research here on what balanced and unbalanced mean.

But, I can run a mic cable from the mic into the pre, and run a 1/4" cable out to my Delta??

Thanks, johneeeveee. :)

Yes, you can do this. It has XLR, and 1/4" in and out. I have one that I use the XLR in for recording mic, or 1/4" in for DI. In each case, the out is a 1/4" to my Echo Mia soundcard.

Awesome. Good to hear!

Thanks to the both of you! :D

Rethink the preamp. You may be able to get better for the same $

im not sure about that.....$49 for the TubeMP and $59 for the TubeMP OPL is pretty good.......

what did u have in mind?

A small Behringer UB 1002 mixer is ($59). A DMP2 for $79. He should save another $80 - $100 and get a VTB-1, a DMP3, or maybe one of those Ranes thas chessrock likes.

I'm just using it to get started.
Eventually I'm going to buy a a Mackie mixer or something, but I just snagged an MXL V67G got 74 bucks (lend_me_talent!), and I'm going to need a preamp to power it!
So I just wanted something cheap to start with.
