Uhh, Earl,

I know you're from Gnashville (or NashVegas"), so I'll try not to embarass you, but we call it "Foat Wuth". :D

Harvey,

I 'preciate the pronunciation but....I lived (past tense) in Nashburg (:D) for several years. Back in the "Town of the Cow" now. Originally from Mineral Wells..... :D

Actually lived outside of Sanger back in the early 70's (Cosmic Kitchen, Wimpy's, Lincoln Park....sound familiar?)

"On the muscle of my arm, there's red and blue tattoo....."

BTW....Badass, give us an idea of your price range and maybe we can help you out.

Earl

cowtown

well actually i'm in the Great White North eh...Calgary, land of the white plastic cowboy hats for two weeks in July every year...um I was lookin at a minimal price range 100$ or so, but being the impatient person I am (and just had to have on anyway's like RIGHT NOW!!) I went and bought one :D . A behringer XMS2000S for 49.99$ at AXE MUSIC here in calgary...those guys are very knowledgable and helped me out a lot there.
Origionally the guy (can't remember his name) was showin me an AKG C1000S for about 300$ but yeah too much for the time being...Im just pluggin it into an old amp for now anyways and linin out to my state of the art SB16 soundcard...
I'm still interested to hear what comes up tho, and as well in reference to the above mic(s). Thx alot:)

old amp

just curious...how bad for the amp is runnin the mic through it?

peavey rage

...just to let you know I am running the mic thru a peavey rage then into an ancient little white amp so i can have sound sound. One speaker isn't enough it seems...Oh ya always spend the extra cash on a mic stand with a boom (for all them guitar players out there), in the process of taking this mic stand back right now....i had no idea hehe:)

simple question

will pluggin this mic in here fry my amps?

The mic wont fry your amp but that is definately not a good signal path for recording, way too noisy.

The cheapest decent mic you can get would probably be a SM57 or 58, or a Marshall V67. You can usually get any of them for less than $100.

The Shure SM58 is industry standard for live vocals so it can pull double duty for you and it doesnt need phantom power.
