Newbie has questions about Delta44 with Sonar PE 3.1

First I bought and installed the Delta 44, then a few months later got enough money to buy and install Sonar 3.1 I ran the Wave Profiler and 96,000 is "OK". But then I get an Audio Driver Error saying, "The following driver(s) either do not support the current audio format, or are in use by another application. Please choose whether you want to disable them or use them anyway." M-Audio Delta 44 Multi 1/2 and M-Audio 44 1/2 are listed. What do I do? I get no signal level in Sonar, but I can record sound using Windows Sound Recorder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is your default audio project sample rate and bit depth set to?

Make certain that you're not defaulting to a level not supported by the M-Audio drivers (i.e. something like 22k or 11k)

This can be found in Options>Audio>General Settings

What sample rate/bit depth are you attempting to use?

Sorry, I had the sample rate locked on my Delta 44, so I can record now. I have distortion at low levels though. Any help pn that would be appreciated...I'm trying to record at 24bit. TIA
 
I'm glad you got the first problem corrected. You probably have a software mixer w/ the Delta that is button selectable at -10db (consumer) or +4db (pro) levels. Just flip between the channel input settings to see what works best with the level of the given input.

Hmmmm, well I get next to NO signal coming in to Sonar from the mic. Again, I can record and get good levels through Windows Sound Recorder, but nada with Sonar. As far as I can tell everything looks to be set correctly (+4 dBu on my preamp and in Deltas input). Toggling back and forth between +4 and -10 didn't help. I really appreciate your help.
 
What are you selecting as your Input selection in Sonar? If you have the pre-amp plugged into the #1 input in the Delta, then you should be selecting "Delta 1/2 Left" as your input choice in Sonar. Delta's input #2 would correspond to "Delta 1/2 Right" in Sonar, and so on.

How are you determining that you are getting no input in Sonar? IIRC you have to arm the track before you will see the recording meters in Sonar active.
 
dachay2tnr, that was it. THANK YOU! I just assumed Left 1/2 meant inputs 1 and/or 2 on the M-Audio's break-out box. Awesome guys, I really appreciate your help.
