Newbie Forum Politics

When someone comes into the Newbie forums throwing a tantrum talking about "such and such equipment is garbage" and "you don't know what you're talking about person who's has 5000 posts and 10M rep points" people are jumping out of their shoes to console and help him. For the last 3 days I've been politely asking questions while making a genuine effort to research the forums and internet to educate myself about my issue and have been completely ignored. My subtle bumping of my own thread isn't working... I know the squeaky wheel gets the grease, but do people really need to get nasty to garner attention around here?

Ok, I answered you, but you keep asking: why an external audio interface instead of a PCI card, you've had a few answers already.

Well, I think the biggest reason for lack of replies, is the likelihood of someone having actually used the gear you are questioning about, would be a rarity. When you are considering gear in the below $100 range, you are severely limited. The US800 is discontinued, so it's $250 original price, is what it is worth. My advice would be to stop questioning, and just get it while you can. If you end up not liking it, I'm sure you will find a buyer for the same price you purchased it for. Hell, I just bought two of them, so when they are extinct, I can supply one to a needy member. Not at profit by the way. I'm just a nice guy.

No.

On a public forum, there is always a manner of risk when posting a question. It might garner 500 replies. It might get none. The "Famous Dave" thread should have died after the 5th post. But it goes over 1000. I worked all night on an experiment, posted the result in a thread as a few people over the last couple of years had asked about the particular subject and a week later, not a bean. But it's a minority concern on a minority forum {the Tascam one} and from time to time, it may help someone. It would be nice to have some conversation aboutit but I knew when I did it that it was highly unlikely.
If your question gets people going, they'll answer. Sometimes it takes a few days before people find something that may be of pressing concern to the original poster. That's just the nature of internet forums. There is no rhyme nor reason.

Well, I don't know much , but I try to help as many with as much as I can.

Whether it's here and I try to PM people with extremely detailed setup help when they need it, or I message people from my private facebook page offering help, or even at work if some n00bie n00b wants to know how to rap into the laptop, whatever. I like helping. I know how much it means to me when someone helps me out. I even browse the first page or two of forums to try to reply to threads with 0 replies. Even if I cant help Ill just give it a bump.

And I will say this-I'm kind of rude when it comes to thread titles... If I see a thread title that I feel like I know nothing about "PCI xv7983 setup with Sonar iBerry x6400" , I honestly dont even click it. Which might be a bad thing, but what can I say. If it's something general, I'll check it out. Such as "need help with ___" or something like that. That's why I make threads like "kidkage vs. latency"

Actually, Kidcage makes a good point ~ titles are important. Newspaper editors recognized this in the old days ~ a good headline grabbed people and even if the headline had little to do with the story, you wouldn't find that out until you'd bought the paper !
A title about ergonomics is already struggling to grab peoples' attention {"what is ergonomics ?"} whereas "Newbie forum politics" has a juicy ring to it that's going to stoke curiosity.

Good point... this tread certainly got the attention I was looking for. I don't think I have it in me to get any nastier than that so I'm glad it worked. All of you guys are very nice and helpful, I appreciate your input and I'm sorry for getting testy. Jimmys69, mjb, and everyone have really helped me feel good about a decision to buy a new US800. Aside from the fact that it does seem to be the best equipment option for my needs, buying new is so much less risky, espeically in something I can probably resell for the same price. Hopefully I'm not back on here in a few days when it arrives bugging everyone with more stupid questions about installation.

I expect you will. lol! It's all good man. Setup is a bitch sometimes, but once that is out of the way, the real fun begins. Then the good questions arise.
