newbie for bass guitar

hi there, ive already been 1 year recording music in my own and i record bass tracks on my keyboard synth. Now ive just bought a real bass guitar and this is the first time i played it. i dont know how good is it. How far the first string (top string) from the fretboard in the 24th fret of a very good bass? it seems that my new bass' string looks like too far from the fret board and i could get blister on my finger. remember that this is too my first to hold a bass guitar.

my guitar is
Johnson JP-800 5-string 24 fret.

yeah the bass will give you blisters. bass strings eat fingers.



but other than that, i dont know what your asking...are your strings too high? too low? are there strings on it?




you can lower your strings by adjusting the saddle on the bridge, ya know where the strings are? you should see little thingys you can adjust and lower them from there
