Frankly, I've had just about enough of all this jumping all over minnows who jump all over clueless newbs for jumping on bears who jump on clueless newbs crap.

This has got to stop.

And you don't have to be the band to sound like that band! Look at Beatlemania (sound just like the damn Beatles to me), or all the damn rappers and boy bands who all sound just like one another!

Wait a minute . . . I'm getting way out of line here. I've had just about enough of myself.

LOL. I am starting to like you, Chess.

Bruce was just being Bruce. Just ignore the things you can't buy, and work with what you got, I guess. There were a few threads on 57 sounding funny, and I think they were all defective. So, check the mic itself out and see what you can do from there. Good luck.

Back to the original content. I totaly agree with Tex. Not only on that amp but on most amps. You have to kill alot of the bass and bring in a little more highs. In any case you have to do some mixing at the amp. There is a big difference between what sounds good five or ten feet away and what sounds good 6 or 12 inches away. Mic placement is important, but it is not a cure all.

I love a lot of bass in my guitar sound for playing by my self, most people do I think but it has never worked for recording. (my self or at a studio)

Try holding an RE-20 with your hand covering all the side openings. Sing "Love Roller Coaster." Oops, an RE-20 costs more than $100. Is that gear snobbery?

I want to know what that's about. An RE-20 with proximity effect? An Omni-EV?
Iquiring minds want to know

It was just a strained attempt somehow to related the Red Hot Chili Peppers and "gear snobbery." Supposedly (according to someone, I don't remember who), Anthony Kiedis sometimes holds an RE20 with his hand covering the openings, which produces that weird mid-rangy vocal sound that you hear in their cover of "Love Roller Coaster" (and some other songs). It might make it an omni too.

Personally, I prefer the Squids Marching Band cover version of Love Roller Coaster ....
