newbie advice please

Hello,

I own a fostex FD-8 and need some advice First off is there an FAQ I can go look at ?

I am having trouble recording multple channels...well at least having trouble getting them to go to separate channels. i can get four input devices but they all record to all the channels. In other words all for devices record on all four tracks. What the heck am I doing wrong? I am sure it is something simple.

Hey Shadoe,
As I am also pretty new to the recording game, I own an FD-8 and I think you are right in assuming that your problem is a simple one! Next time you have a chance to hook up your devices to record, take a second to make sure you have set the Pan-knobs to their correct settings. According to the record function buttons, the odd tracks 1, 3, 5, and 7 should be panned to the left.
And the even tracks should be; 2, 4, 6, and 8, thusly panned to the right. I have made the same mistake of not setting the pan knobs correctly and have come out with the same deal. I hope that this will in some way help you out and remedy your dilemma!!!!! Rock on.....
