After being an analog only soundguy for years I decided to jump into the digital recording age.
I have Digidesidn 002 rack factory (pro tools le 6.9)
sweetwater creation station pro PC
keystation 88 pro midi controller
Drumkit From Hell Superior
I also have
Lexicon MPX1
Alesis 3630 comp.
BBE sonic maximizer
alesis midiverb 4
ADA MP1 guitar pre
ADA mp2 guitar pre
Digitech 2120 artist pre/fx
rocktron intellifex
I am trying to get this stuff up and running effectivley. I am looking to do heavy rock - extreme type metal projects as well as songwritting for my demos.
My questions are this.
Has anyone used a similar rig with DFH? I am having tons of problems installing it. Is the Pro tools Le to 7.0 worth it? I know that there are several synth type of upgrades with it.
Does anyone have any ideas for wiring this together? I would like to be able to access any preamp at a seconds notice. And I dont want to use a analog mixer. I want track by track recording not a sub mixed version. I want to ad channells. 8 or 16. Does anyone have any oppinions. I am lloking at octa-pre and digimax.
Any and all info is greatly appreciated. I am new so please be helpful. Thanx

I will try.

The problem you are having is --- Drumkit From Hell Superior is available in plugin formats that protools does not support.

You need to choose either a different drum sound module or a different software package.

Sounds like you've done a bunch of biz with Sweetwater. If you don't mind throwing money at this problem, call them and discuss this with your 'sales engineer'.

I'm not a PT user but I can say that DFHS comes as vsti or RTAS.
The question includes whether or not it would be a worthwhile investment to upgrade his pt software past v. 6.9. DKFH is not compatable with his current version.

Just testing. ;) :D

Well the problem Im having is that in the manual it says to drag and drop all the sound files. So I created a file on my desktop and dragged them all into it. Then when usig pro tools it comes up as a instrument plug in and the rewire screen comes up. thats as far as I can get.
I know I need to call sweetwater its just hard trying to find time.
Is 7.o compatable with it?
If anyone knows how to get the upgrade Id appreciate it. I know that digidesign was offering it if you bought it between september or october. I just dont know where to get it or who to contact.
Thanks again everybody.
How about adding more channels? anyone know how? :D

If you click on the link ssscientist posted it says "Now available in RTAS- Supporting Pro tools 7.X" in big letters.

If you dig a little deeper into the Toontrack site it will be revealed that they make more than one product, and the Drumkit From Hell Superior is one of them.

when did you buy your 002r?

have you registered it?

i bought my m-box2 back around christmas (just before or after), and even then they gave me an amnesty update to PT7.0. I got that in an email when I registered my m-box 2, so normally you shouldn't have to pay for the upgrade.

I bought my 002r in October of 2005. I know I was eligable for the upgrade but I didnt register. I had the sotware "turn key" from Sweetwater. I thought that they did.
I know the upgrade is $75 so its not that bad. But is it worth it?

It is if you want to use DKFHS! Have you been reading this thread?

well that makes sense then. But since I got it before pro tools 7.0 came out I was wondering why they put instructions in the manual (even though they are vague as hell) when only 6.9 was out.
That said I thought that it may be usable with 6.9 via rewire.
Any thoughts.
by the way I appreciate everyones help.

Yes, the upgrade is worth it. And in the future I'd recommend ALWAYS register your hardware purchases. You never know what kind of trouble will pop up. For example, the faulty powersupply cables in the 002 and 002r. If it was registered the fix was free...

Take care,
Chris
