Please listen to my new song "I Think I Know Your Mind", just up at http://www.mp3.com/LarryKolker. It's basically an acoustic blues number.

It is close to where I want it but I rushed it up a little TO HELP PUBLICIZE MY GIG (at the Baggot Inn in the Village if you happen to be in NYC this Saturday 5/12 from 8-9 pm sharp).

As always, I would be grateful for your comments!

I guess it's only lo-fi, so it's hard to comment on things. It seems to be a good song, though. Probably the sound quality is alot better than what I'm hearing, so I'll not say anything about it.

I like your harp skills, though!

I liked the arrangement of this song along with others
I heard. If I was to offer anything it would be maybe to
slow it down a tad. I could detect you kinda laboring
to get a breath between phrases. Just my 2 cents
and keep up the good work. You are definitely a songwriter.

I agree about slowing it down a tad...good song...I just wanted to groove with it a little....

I dont think ill be able to make it Saturday, but from listening I can see ill miss quite a show.....

Good job....

I don't think it should be slowed down at all - with a possible exception at around 4:00, I really like the edge that the pace gives your vocals. Kinda like you're trying to catch up on her way out or something.

Great song, Slim!

Nah, you just gotta click on the artist's name (Larry Kolker), and it takes you to their page...

The guitar has some transients that seem to get in front of the vocals... (well, the guitar IS in front of the vocals...).

Hope your show goes well. Don't forget to invite MrQ (free beer... :D)!

Yes, thanks for mentioning that, Kelly. Don't fret about Mr.Q: He's got a personal invitation! When you say that the guitar is in front of the vocals, are you suggesting that I might want to bring it back by, say, adding a little reverb to it (there is a small amount of reverb on the vocals and none on the guitar).

I've just uploaded a remix with some different eq and compression settings, and greater volume on the guitar. I thought the the vocal in the first mix was too relatively loud and sounded a little smothered by too much compression (and too much deesser, my latest toy, to compensate for noise caused by the compression). I think the sound of the guitar and vocal are better in the remix but I'm afraid that I've gone too far with the guitar volume.

Anyway, the remix should be up in a few hours so if any of you have the time later on today please tell me what you think.

Thank you for your comments H2H, Elben, Gidge, Vurt. I really appreciate it.

Gidge, c'mon, you can still make it, I figure it's only about a 28-hour drive each way for the 45-minute set!

I enjoyed it thoroughly! And furthermore I WILL be there
Larry! ANNNNDDDD, I got a babysitter, so I don't have to drag my daughter with me!!(but I will drag my bass, just in case :) ).

Hey Larry, hows parking over there!!?? The last time I parked in the West Village my car got towed (though it was during the week).

Last but not least,I'll prob'ly just have 1 beer as I don't
DRINK and DRIVE!!!

See Ya' Saturday!!

Aaron(MrQ)Collie

Thank you Q. It's not in the West Village; it's pretty much in the center, just south of the park (between Sullivan and Thompson as I recall). You might get lucky and find a free spot but don't count on it!

My Main Man monty!

You still hold the title "Funniest MoFo" here!!

Wazzup Brutha'!!?

Really really good song and well sung and played. A tad less reverb on the vocal would add to it, not take away. I'm getting into that singing backup to my own songs, too. I don't think this one works as well as just one voice would sound. The harp works a treat, though. Whatever percussion you were using isn't well-defined enough. Were you banging on your guitar or your guitar case? :D It would've sounded less home-grown if it'd just been one voice, guitar and harmonica. Main thing is: really, really good song and well sung and played. :)

Thanks, Dobro. I am proud of the song.

It's a Conga. I wanted a little more bottom heavy, driving blues beat, so I used a thud accenting the 2 and 4 beats and an occasional slap at the 4+ beat. I then double tracked it, added bass to one and treble to the other and panned them wide apart. But I kept them low because I didn't like it when they were too dominant. I dunno.

Nice work slim! This is the best recording you've made so far IMHO!

Thanks Slack. I think you're right. Growth is good. Fertilizer helps.
