Hi guys: You are my best educated ears out there. I just figured out how to record 4 tracks live, and mix it to stereo. I need to work on all of this, but am real excited for my first attempt. The tracks bleed into each other, but I still have some control over each of the 4 mics-vocal, guitar, bass drum, high hat. This was done with Samplitude Master 6.0 on my new computer that has a delta 66 soundcard. A local big name engineer and recording store owner turned me on to this program. He has gotten several big recording studios in the Bay area to dump Pro Tools for Samplitude, after they did side by side tests. He is a certified tech in both programs. This one allows only 4 tracks-perfect for me- for $300. He also spend a whole day setting it all up on my computer and teaching me the basics. I have only begun to tap into this monster. I am using preset programs that are non destructive. There are other that are destructive and blow the ones I am using away, but he told me to just stick to these until I get the hang of things-good suggestion. Let me know what I need to do if you have the time. Take care.

Listened to (NALT)

A bit of top distortion here and there - Could very well be MP3 artifacts -

Good tune for driving to - Overall, it has a nice "vintage" sound to it. Kind of a dark, analog tone, very fitting to the genre. The only thing that tugs at my ear is the harp... It doesn't sound bad, it just seems a little disjointed... Like everything was recorded with nice warm ribbons and the harp was recorded with a bright condenser. Maybe just a little rolloff...

Sounds nice -

Massive Master: I agree with you. I was going too crazy with the compression and the original had some clipping. People have suggested 2 mics-1 for vocals, and 1 for harp, but I just can't get the hang of moving from 1 to the other. I do try to back off when I blow the harp. I make up all my songs as I go along and can't predict when I am going to blow or sing. I am using an AT 3035 mic and wonder if there is one out there that would catch both vocal and harp together better. Thanks Walter
