new PC to go with Cubase 4

Up untill now I have been recording guitar, bass and vocals, using an audiophile 24/96 and Cubase VST with good results.

My PC is 5 years old now so I guess it's about time for an upgrade. I have some money saved up for it. I'm planning on buying Cubase 4 and I would like to continue using the audiophile 24/96.

Now here's my question:
- Should I look out for anything in particular (in terms of brand, CPU, RAM, HD, ...) or would any new home computer from the computer store do? I've read some other posts from people who are assembling their PC themselves, but I'd rather just buy a whole new system. Also, my old PC has XP running. I guess a new one will have Vista? Will that give any problems?

Thanks for replying.

* Windows XP Home, XP Professional or Vista**
* Pentium/Athlon 1.4 GHz
* 512 MB RAM
* Windows DirectX compatible audio hardware (ASIO compatible audio hardware recommended for low-latency performance)
* Display resolution 1024x768 pixels
* DVD-ROM drive required for installation
* USB port required for Steinberg Key (copy protection device)*
* Internet connection required for license activation

There's your system requirements for Cubase 4... Although, it seems a bit dry for running any audio.

All in all, I'd say dont go any less than 2.0 Dual Core for the CPU, 2 gigs of ram, obviously a good size Sata 3.0Gb/s harddrive no less than 7200 rpms... Prebuilt from the store is fine, just go with a trustworth company with good customer support, something you have had good experiences with, everyone will talk crap about every computer company. Just don't buy emachine, i dont know anyone who will say anything good about them, even though you'll like their price.

Cubase is Vista and XP home/pro compatible, except one of the native versions, which needs to be XP... I'd double check whatever version you are getting and look at specific requirements
