This was kind of a different one for me. It’s a quick two minute song without a chorus. It’s about my experience witnessing the invention of the internet and its effects on our lives (mostly detrimental). It’s broken into 4 short sections I’m labeling:
1) Discovery and ignorance
2) So far so good
3) Rising problem
4) It’s too late
We’ve all seen good things come from it’s invention, but we’ve probably all seen it damage a lot of people and often our own relationships as everyone is hooked on it and ignoring the things that matter most…including each other. We had no idea the can of worms we opened with this invention and how it would change us and the world.
And of course, mixing thoughts & tips are appreciated!
Lyrics:
Distract
1. Discovery and ignorance
It was circa 1994; we wanted more
A conversation to the other shores; we wanted more
With arms wide open we left open our doors
2. So far so good?
We found old friends
Did you hear what she said?
But progress always did
Break the weakest of us
3. Rising problem
I can see the air like rising tides
I’m alone again they’re all inside
Hasn’t rained but looks like it might try
Watch their eyes as angels cry
4. It’s too late
Degraded, Electrically
It’s so compelling, and controlling
My competition, replaces me
And so connected, but distantly
