My advice at this stage is not to rush into any purchases. You may even agree with that, but still accidentally rush because that is what 3/4's of people do at the beginning. If I were you, I would expand my base knowledge about the whole set-up of recording...mics, preamps, interfaces, DAWs, etc. before jumping in the water.
Also, another thing is that there is no "perfect" mic for rappers. Everything is relative depending on your voice and how well it meshes with the frequency response/coloring of the microphone!
This is possibly the best advice on this thread.
Everyone on this forum has their own favourite mics. The EV brigade have already made recommendations--I don't personally like the RE20 or similar for most voices but that's just me and my taste in how things sound. I have my own favourite mics but I don't know what your voice sounds like--or what you WANT it to sound like on your recordings.
You don't list where you are but if you're in or near a city of any size, you'll likely find there are pro audio rental places that will let you try mics for five or ten dollars a day. Or you might find a specialist shop that will let you try mics. Or maybe you can just find some other hobbyists with mics you can audition.
But, if you can find a way to do it, it really is worth trying to have a listen to some actual mics rather than taking advice from strangers like me!
