HI Bobbsy thanks for the feedback. Yeah I appreciate that, I think something I need to think about is the fact that the 2200A from SE is just the mic and its used for £60 so I'm not sure if I want to risk going for a used item with no warranty and just the mic I believe it was.
The pop filter I think ive found one going cheap..but now for the se x1..am thinking to myself buying everything seperately may just add upto £180 in the end..so am debating wether i shud just go for the package u recommended..and get an interface second..or wether to go for the £299 deal ive seen which is the package u sent me+ the same interface u were talking about earlier...really debating..i mean whats your thoughts?

Well, there's no easy answer but if it was me, I'm a bit of a coward on second hand gear and like the security of a warranty and a reputable company. However, that's easy for me to say when it's not my money we're talking about.

One thought though...that Reflexion filter thing would make a big difference to the sound of your recordings when you're working in a small hotel/dorm room without the option of acoustic treatment.

If you offered 85 and he accepted, then you are now legally committed, unless it was just a verbal offer?

Personally, I've never worried about second hand gear on ebay. Most of my gear is just that.

You've something like 14 or 21 days to be sure you're 100% happy with the item.
Ok, that's not as good as a warranty, but it's certainly long enough to find out if you've been stroked or not.

Ebay very often side with the buyer if the item doesn't comply with the description.
This has only happened to me once though, and that was damage in transit for which i was reimbursed.

This is just my opinion; I wouldn't argue with anyone who doesn't like the idea of 2nd hand ones.

Yeah that was exactly my thoughts Bobbsy. Like even if I take the mic for £85 and it comes with a pop stand..essentially all be spending a further £30 on the pop filter..so your at £115..then another £30 on a stand..£145...then a further £15 on a shock mount..so your at £160..its only a £20 saving..then for the m=audio interface looking at another 80-£100 second hand which is £240-260. Thats why I'm thinking just to go for this package:

Focusrite Saffire 6 USB/SE X1 Mic & Project RF Bundle | eBay -£299. And I know Absoulete Music as I have purchased 2 microphones from them before.

Whats your thoughts?

I offered and yes I'm legally obliged to pay for it on eBay didnt accept the buyer to accept my other of £85 you see when he declined £80..but I suppose every penny counts. However before paying Ive asked for him to verify the authenticity of the item and also what it comes with..as what Bobbsy said is it comes with basic things as a package..so im going to see what they say first..if worst comes to worst i'll just state i dont want to purchase due to concerns with the authenticity of the album.if I recieve a strike fair enough..but when theres no genuine guarantee and 7 days return i dont think its very safe

Hi this is what the seller put:

Dear baykid2011,

This listing is for the microphone along with the stand mount adaptor in a brand new unopened box. We are an authorised sE dealer which you can confirm by visiting the following website and clicking on online dealers Welcome to Sonic Distribution UK

- music-matter

^What you guys think? I mean Bobbsy I agree the surround filter mesh is important..and its actually really expensive if u dont get as part of a package..

Well, I can confirm that Sonic Distribution are the SE people in the UK--in fact, when I lived in the UK they used to be in the same town as me which is how I got started on SE mics in the first place--they used to be good about loaning them to me to test. Since then, I've moved to Australia and they've moved to Hitchin.

This discussion might be academic though...as Steenamaroo points out, an offer and an acceptance on eBay constitutes a contract unless the dealer agrees to let you out of it--as a dealer they might be more reasonable than a private seller, but I dunno....

Dear baykid2011,

The pop filter will be supplied, but this is packaged separate.

^He's also put this..whats the stand mount adapter anyway?? Is that a mic stand?? I'm confused.. Well Ive asked him to explain clearly the FULL contents as this wasn't explained correctly on the description..

'stand mount adapter' might mean a solid mount rather than a suspension mount, but as long as you aren't stamping your feet or fondling the stand it won't matter either way.

Just asked him to cancel so got to see what happens. But in fairness as he only put mic but now says it comes with 'pop filter' etc he didnt describe the item correctly anyway. Should have stated fully in the description the full contents of the 'new package.
Well am thinking ive got a few items going for sale and hopefully should get around £150 for them through payPal..so i might just save another £150 on top and get the £299 kit above..whats your thoughts on that 1 guys??

At this stage. I would just take a few weeks off and read reviews online.
Soundonsound is good for that.

Some of the best and most frequent advice on this forum is that a rushed purchased is usually a regretted purchase.

Plus, I don't think extra 'free' stuff that wasn't listed is a great reason for cancelling so maybe taking some time to figure out what's best would save some heartache.

EV N/D767a Dynamic Microphone - is this a good XLR Mic? Anyone used it ? any feedback..I cant find anywhere on eBay in the UK an RE-20 used at my budget
that's a good mic. I prefer them to Shures personally and have gone to all EV mics for live use.
And basically almost any mic you see will be an XLR mic unless it specifically says it's a USB mic.

Thanks guys am going to do some reading up and fingers crossed let me cancel the transaction

Hu guys ive been very lucky and the sellers agreed to let me cancel :). Anyway guys been reading about and thinking about going for this package-http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Focusrite-Saffire-6-USB-SE-X1-Mic-Project-RF-Bundle-/250879267047?pt=Midi_Controllers&hash=item3a6991d0e7 -Whats your thoughts on it?

Almost every amp I've ever bought (dozens and dozens of them) has been 2nd hand. About 2/3rds of my gits were 2nd hand. I bought more new than I would have simply because I always tuned pianos for music stores and I could get new at cost.
Otherwise I'd have bought even more used stuff.

But ...... mics are fragile and can be damaged to a slight extent that you may never be aware of. Small things can throw the freq response off without being obvious.

But more importantly , to me , is the same reason I don't let people come up and talk or sing on my mic.
I have one set up for that and I make them use it.

I won't let anyone use my mic that I wouldn't tongue kiss and that excludes basically everyone.

Haha, yeah. I can see where you're coming from.
I forgot to factor in that pretty much all my mics are dynamics so I was less worried about them being fragile.

I'm definitely super duper fussy about who gets to use 'em though.

Ever notice that the phrase "Is this thing on" Is almost always following by someone banging this shit out of the grill?

or blowing in the mic! that always pisses me off ...... why the hell would you blow into a mic even to test it?

That looks like a good combination deal to me.

Regarding the discussion of 2nd hand vs. new, I have quite a few mics I bought second hand--but in every case I was able to touch and try the mic first. I'm less keen on the idea of buying something to do with audio on the basis of a photograph...if you see what I mean.

man ..... I haven't used either of those but I haven't heard anything bad about them. Especially the Focusrite ...... someone will be along soon that knows more directly about them but didn't I see several recomendations for the Focusrite right here in this thread?
