I had Reaper before and Im not going to lie I was naughty and had a crack version.

There's zero tolerance for that stuff here. You can get banned if a mod sees that. Quit stealing stuff, man up and buy it.

Pick some DAW software that seems to work for you, pay for it, then keep using it. Frankly, familiarity is probably more important than the absolute feature list. I've been in the Cool Edit/Audition camp since the late 1990s and I'm still learning new tricks--but I can generally get it to do exactly what I want.

The previous advice on VSTs was good...so long as its properly written, any VST should work with any DAW.

As for tutorials on set up, most things should become clear once you have the boxes (and the manuals) in front of you. You'll find there's only so many ways to connect things up.....

I cant install the plugins Ive tried following youtube videos..can you guys help??

Run the VST's installer. dll files get placed here:

64-Bit-Plug-Ins: C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins
32-Bit-Plug-Ins: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VSTPlugins

If the installer is dumb, just copy the .dll for the vst into one of these folders and restart Cubase.

Cracked version?!? There can't be such a thing with Reaper. Must have meant that he hasn't payed for it as yet.

No, there are cracked versions of Reaper. You get a "registered version" when you install it. Not sure why anyone would DL a crack though, you can simply keep running it without paying. Not that that's any less wrong though :D

Thanks the x64 Cubase instructions worked can install now!! Many thanks

Annoningly though..my toshiba laptop charger has decided to stop working..so im having to go into the shop..probably have to wait 2 weeks before i get another bloody charger

Toshiba uses a pretty standard type power supply. Just look up the specs and purchase an aftermarket one. There is a PC place down the street from me that I found one for $12 used.

Well its a very odd problem am confused by it. The charger seems to only work when pushed deep into the charger socket in the laptop. Yet to decide wether it was a laptop issue I decided ill ask a professional and took it into a laptop shop who told me it was the laptop charger. Anyway my mums got 2 spare laptop chargers for laptops we cant be arsed to use anymore (my family upgrade laptops alot we get them free as they are all high up professionals work etc) so ive managed to get another toshiba charger to work but its weird seems to again work on and off..But its under guarantee from a UK shop callled 'Currys' so am digging to find the reciept.
Its a shame as my mic and cables came today and am sooo eager to get started and this happens.
Talking about that..they sent me 4 seperate cables and am confused whats for what?? Anyone got a tutorial on how to set it up

Don't wiggle the charger too much if it's not working.

The little block in the laptop can break right off the motherboard, and then it just wont charge at all!
I've had to a fix a few like that before.

Well am waiting for my mum to find the reciept as its under warranty then gunna let them fix it.
However does anyone have a tutorial preferably a video one about how to set up the se x1 mic..i wanna play witj it but i dont know what to do with all the wires lol

Really?

What cables are you talking about?

AFAIK, it should just be mic - xlr cable - interface - usb/firewire cable - computer.

Ah right youve said it straight what i needed to know pal thanks. I'm struggling now with how I set up the stand..ive bought a universal mic stand from Maplins but i cant seem to get it to fit and i cant find tutorials anywhere...PLEASE PLEASE can anybody help me ASAP..

Your mic stand should have a screw thread at the top which simply screws into the stand adaptor for the mic (or, in your package, maybe the adaptor at the bottom of the arm that holds the Reflexion filter and the mic.

If you can't get the stand to screw into the rig that came with the mic, it might be the thread size. There are two common thread sizes used for mics and stands: 5/8th inch and 3/8th inch. It's quite common for the stand adaptors that come with mics to themselves have a threaded adaptor in the hole making it suitable for the smaller size thread. However, if you look into the stand adaptor there's likely a little slot on either side that, using some kind of broad blade, you can use the adaptor out to get at the larger threads.

The thread adaptor will look something like this when out of the mic adaptor:

Or, if the problem is the other way around, you may have a similar adaptor you can screw into the large hole to make it bigger.

If your mic stand came with a boom arm, I probably wouldn't try to use that with the heavy Reflexion filter.

Okay am setting everything up now so ill have a look and get back to you guys many thanks Bobbsy :) as always your a legend many thanks
