Sounds like you're trying to record a mono source to a stereo track.

Of course, that's entirely a guess, as I couldn't possibly know what the issue is without at least some sort of detail from your end...
 
Hi folks - singer / songwriter type, use GarageBand on a Hackintosh these days. Most of my old stuff recorded analog Tascam 424 and Porta One.

I am an addict, a music addict and I have decided to start doing some home recording and do some analogue remasters of some of the live events I have recorded in the past.

I usually use a Macbook Pro with Logic 10 Pro and a Phonic Helix Board 24 or 18 depending how many channels I need using Firewire.

I have just acquired a Fostex Model 80 but it needs new heads but at athe same time I picked up a derelict Tascam 58-OB that was siezed and in terrible shape both cosmetically and mechnically with both of the solenoid gromet's having turned to goo etc...

I have got the Tascam pretty much finished bar some cosmetic bits I am after. I am intending to get a rack mount trolley for it with a patch bay and a firewire 8 in 8 out unit also so I can do a pre mix of my 16 to 8 then do the final mix on the Tascam to introduce some real analogue and tape warmth that you just can't get with a plugin.

What I would like to get next would be a 52-2 (I think that was what it was called) or a 32-2 to do a final mix to.

Bands I have recorded I can guarantee no one has heard of but are :- The Notorious Brothers, Overland Inn, Little Liam, Smokin' Ade Wakelin, Steve Ajao, Violet Violet and some others.

I am always looking at non signed, upcoming bands in the midlands area to record live.

I am also wanting to set up a basic home studio to do some accoustic live sessions with some local or travelling bands here like Daytrotter do in the States.

Anyway that's me...

Hey, I'm Scott. I joined this forum after realizing a lot of stuff I google leads me here. I have a band and a pretty limited budget, but I get a lot of joy out of my petty amateur music production -- I'm finding it's a big part of the creative process I used to pass on to more skilled third parties. Putting songs together and being able to hear them right away is my favorite part about music these days. Further, a lot of stuff I listen to is very low-fi.
 
I just joined the forum and am a retired educator and part-time musician. I purchased a DP-008ex and am trying to figure out where the songs go that are mastered. I want to play them back but can't find them, I can only find the originals which I used to master from. Also, is there an easy way to send the massive wav files via email? I am enjoying reading the stuff guys are putting in here. I didn't know how much I didn't know.

My name is Kevinpaul a long time guitar player but new to recording. I stopped teaching and lab research because of vision problems. I write and play the guitar for fun and money. I fill in with local bands and do studio work. I am new to home recording very new. I have a laptop a Fender Mustang II and a Nady I mic. I recorded one of my songs direct to the PC with Audacity and had the time of my life.
 
Hi, I'm Mark from Louisiana. I've played bass in cover bands for a while now, and my current band have decided to take the leap into writing originals. The "studio" is at my house. I purchased the Presonus 1818 as an AI, with a pair KRK Rockit 5 monitors, and a Rode NT1 as our vocal mic. I'm still using S1 Artist edition-we're using recording mainly as a means of demoing new songs rather than making polished recordings at this point. That's giving me time to use the software. Most all other equipment is equipment that was and still is used live and is now in the recording setup. We mic my guitar amp (Vox AC15C2) with an Audix i5. My bass is either recorded direct using a Whirlwind DI or I mic up my setup (Mesa Bass 400+ and Mesa PH1000 cab) with an Audix d6. Our drummer has a Roland TD-9 kit he brings over. Our music is country, but more TX country than mainstream. As we write more and I learn more, we will be adding to our setup with some mic preamps/channel strip to warm things up, as well a matched pair of room mics and some nice sounding drums with AD. Looking forward to learning what I can from the site.
 
Hi I'm Brian from Adelaide SA, in a metal band called Phantom Pain, have been doing some basic demos at home with Guitar Rig 5, Audacity and a Yamaha MW12 (previously a crap little behringer dongle off ebay)
 
New to an MM6 Yamaha, but old sequencer from the Atari in the 1970's

I so hope this forum has a few members who are patient people who have some time to spend with me and the multitude of questions I will be running in to! In the early days before the Internet was born even, I taught myself midi sequencing via Atari, a keyboard and in those days rather expensive programs. Soon along with the internet, message boards, a PC, I graduated to Cakewalk a Yamaha PSR 620 and then came audio recording to bring me to burning my own CD's that I sold at gigs. (My late husband Bill and I were The Travelin' Troubadors of Ohio- Folk musicians that did festivals, private parties, busking in front of the Cleveland Rock and Roll Museum where we had a following since I played a Psaltry along with the cassettes we created. And Bill on the Echo Harps and our dancing Frogs were well received.
Now I am hoping to get going again with your help, please because years have gone by and I have forgotten almost everything!

Hello everyone. My name is Jesper, 23 years old from Sweden and i've been trying recording music the past 4-5 years on a very "noobish"- level. (and been playing for 10 years)

I play several instruments but my favorite while playing alone are Synths or Piano - Mostly Techno or Dance/trance.
If i however play with my old band i play the bass and we play everything from Rock to power metal.

I have a Studio (at least under construction, about 50m2) and own all possible recording equipment.
however now i study Medicine in Poland (so i'm a M.D student) and does only have very little recording opportunities here.
So it's me, my yamaha mm6 and my macbook pro in this outraging battle against the med.books.

When i don't Study or record music i do the thing i love most, and that is to ride motorcycles, my goal in the nearest future is to be able to make some "okey" music to have on my bike youtube videos. but that is still in progress since i lack good Fair equipment to make good sound quality.
