Hey...how is everyone? I'm new to the forum but not to sound on sound recording. I've been using an older Yamaha AWG 16 for a number of years and have been relatively pleased with the device. I cut some really good quality CDs on it, but have to admit that I have to go back to the user manual if I haven't recorded in a while. It's use is not "intuitive" at all to the casual user like myself. It is all digital except for output. It will cut CDs, but there's no digital output to other devices like a computer and no digital input either.

To fix that problem, I'm looking closely at an apparent little used Tascam 2488 NEO and found some pretty interesting reviews of it on this forum. Thanks. I will be back for some help in using the new machine.

About me: Been an amateur vocalist, accoustic guitar, bass guitar, Euphonium player and sound tech for a lot of years. Most important part of recording for me, is getting the harmony correct using my vocal and instrumental input only. I think the metronome on the NEO will help some in that respect. Just wish it had a built in drum machine...that would be awesome.

Great forum...thanks.

Hi All,

This is Syd. I just joined but realised many of posts are quite old. What's going on?

Well, my apology. I was looking at the old posts.
About myself – I’m really here to learn about recording. I’ve just bought a USB interface (Yamaha Audiogram 6) and installed Neuendo 3.

Issue – When I connect the my guitar and start recording, everything goes smoothly but, as soon as connect my mic I get delay of 1-2 second.

Could anyone please help.

Appreciate it.

That's the problem that is inherited with USB microphones ... the only way out of that is to have a USB microphone that has a built in headphone jack on it.

Hello Hello!

Hi everyone, name's Cam...

Been playing music for about 20 years (mostly string instruments), but just stumbling into recording for the last couple. I'm very picky about my sound quality, so things got expensive pretty quick. Saw this forum and it looked pretty active. Figured I might pick your brains and maybe share a little of my past experience, if I see I can help.

I've been trying to record acoustic instruments, which are dynamic and hard to get just right. For years I started projects and end up trashing them because my recordings never did the songs justice. Just last year though, I finally got some high end mic's, and a spare room in my house. I finished my first complete track right before leaving to work in Afghanistan.

I can't wait to get home and completely rebuild the spare room for recording. It's driving me crazy just thinking about it. I've written about 8 new songs out here already. I've got big plans for the room but want to do my research and make sure I'm not going to make any more expensive mistakes.

Anyone seen any good threads on hardwood floors for recording rooms??? I didn't see any when I searched, and I figured that would be a good place to start when I get home. Start from the ground up right lol :thumbs up:

First forum ever... first post ever... Got to start somewhere

Ahoy, person from Wales! South Wales as in Cardiff Wales, or South Wales as in some other version of Wales on another continent? I'm new here myself too, mind, so I may as well introduce myself.

I'm Alan, I'm 99% homo-sapien, and what I do with any and all audio equipment is crap for YouTube. I need some opinions on some stuff too, but no point starting that thread until I've amassed my 10 posts, eh?

Hi all, I've just joined the forum and would like to introduce myself, My name is Mark and I'm from the north east of England. I operate the PA for a band called 'Mel and the MicroPigs' which my daughter is the female vocalist for. She leaves school this year to pursue further qualifications in music so between us we are looking at setting up a home studio for her songwriting so will undoubtedly have a shed load of questions once I've had a good read of the forums. Catch you all again shortly.
