Dude, this is a really cool tune!

I'm not really into this type of music, but I found myself getting into this song. No major problems with the mix, I thought it was pretty damned good. Maybe a tad more low-end on the kick drum, that's all.
Loved that snare sound!
It sounds like a hammer hitting an anvil..... very nice!

Sounds nice! OK if you want constructive criticism here's all I can say:
Acoustic guitar doesn't sound too great. The sound is not very dynamic and low ends seem to share some other frequency or some shit. EQ? It's a low end thing on my shitty PC speakers here at work. If you were to EQ it a little so that thing is gone (that annoying freq low mids) and add a little verb to set it more in the room maybe...

Something I'm doing right now with a song I'm recording with an acoustic is recording two seperate acoustic tracks playing the exact same thing and panning them to opposite speakers/ EQ 'em alittle different. It really livens up a dull acoustic. Also, what are you using to record the acoustic? I've found a large diaphram condenser on the hole, and a dynamic mike on the fretboard close to the body sounds nice...

Really like the guitar effect and the vocals effect a lot!

The drums sound cheesy (sorry) Not sure how else to put it. IMHO when using drum loops or sequences you really have to do it in a way that is cool or inventive or else make them sound real. This is a really cool song concept and deserves cool drums. That's my number one beef with with musicians on this board is that a lot of peep treat drums as second class sounds, when in rock and pop music they share vocals with what's in your face.

Really liked this song though.

Henrik: Thx.. the beat is of course inspired by "Basriff" (best Kent-song ever IMO)..

Buck: Thanx.. I'll look at the kick.

Slack: thx

I have spent some time "mastering" the mix, and in a later version (only on my HDD as of yet), the guitar is a bit cleaner and more separated from the rest... I did an a/b, and I could clearly see your point. The acc is recorded by a MC012 card -> dbx576 pointed at 12th fret ~3-4 inches out, and another MC012 hypercard -> Mackie vlz pro, over my shoulder, pointing down to the right of the sound hole.

The drums are supposed to sound canned, and IMO they ARE cool and in your face.. the kick can come up a bit, and the hihats need some attention. Otherwise, I'm completely satisfied with how they turned out. :)

Thanks all for your time.
:) :) :) :)

I just happened to have my POD hooked up to my SG while I was reviewing this piece. Ended up "reviewing" it about a dozen times before arming the track I was playing on in Vegas. Ended up with a pair of soft electric guitar tracks that I mixed with your mix and encoded at 128.... 1376 KB. I haven't posted it anywhere since it's your tune but it demonstrates a direction I think this piece should take FWIW.

If a mix moves me to pick up an axe AND hit the record button, you've done something seriously right. Thanks.

Hey meshy reading back what I read maybe my wording could have been a little more tactful:( Sorry bout that, the drums do sound cool, I think I have developed a dislike of sampled drums in general over the past few years as a result of so many people I've heard using them like a cookie cutter. Hell after listening to your song a few more times it really does sound pretty good and you probably spent some time on that. Hey it's tough being critical! Too bad the song wasn't a little longer, it leaves you wanting more. Or maybe is that the effect you were looking for?

Hey Rats. I don't think your post was untactful. I appreciate constructive critisism no matter how bashed I get by it. :)

The link is updated, and will now take you to the new, edited version. I have applied some EQ. IMO, the bass is better controlled, and there's better separation in the low mids.

Dude, that garage drum kit download has got some really good stuff in it. Anybody know where I can find more drum samples with rolls, double bass rolls, for Fruity Loops? I can't do drum rolls that don't sound cheesy in Fruity Loops. Thanks
