New gear and problems

Got 2 new compressors in 😉
A symetrix and rane mc22
Love old budget gear.
The difference in sound is obvious but on the rane channel 2 is a lot softer than channel 1 in stereo mode it's 100% unusable and in mono mode the input has to be almost boosted to 100%

Anyone a tip on how to solve this ?
Tried both balanced and TRS input/outputs.

Without seeing it - the Rane's electronics are failing in Channel 2 - and the way you fix is opening the box and testing the components.
 
It's the mono/link switch.
That threw me off. The switch is not working
 
The mono link switch did work the first time but not the second time. That threw me off when i started changing the modes.

It seems to sometimes work sometimes not. Seeing there is no indicator i just thought it worked ;)

That’ would make it not link - how dose the sound get turned down?
 
I turned down one channel.
anyway it's the link switch. Now that I know it's fixed in mono input levels is ok.
 
Thats the trouble with old gear. They have faults and you have to live with work arounds. A bit of a bummer though if you ever need to use it on a stereo source, but you can fudge the level issue on one channel easily enough.
 
Stereo source i will just copy the settings. It's not a lot of dials ;)

It's a Minor annoyance but it sounds too nice to send back.
