New Fostex MR8HD Keeps Crashing

Hi

I've bought a Fostex MR8HD recently and have recorded (or attempted to record) two things on it.

During the first recording the thing just crashed on me at one point so I lost what I'd just done because it said Post Recording Please Wait - and never came out of it.

I did eventually do it so that it behaved and it didn't do it and I eventually ended up with a recording.

I've now just tried to record a second song and the same thing has happened. Stuck on that for about 10 minutes before I gave up on it.

Any idea why this keeps crashing. I can see its an impressive piece of kit but with the frequency of crashes I'm unimpressed so far.

Help?

Thanks

Al

alun, you may want to get on Fostex's website and let them know about this problem. You may not be the only one this is happening to. I believe in the KISS principle, (Keep It Simple, Stupid) so it's probably a problem with putting too many bells and whistles on the damn thing. The more complicated you make something, the easier it is for something to go wrong.

The thing is, what I do is very simple. I'm a lone acoustic guitarist and vocalist. I couldnt really make it any simpler. I've looked at the fostex site forums and it seems a common prob though

I think Rokket meant Fostex when he was talking about keeping it simple. I have the VF160EX and have had great success with it. The few issues/questions I did have were promptly (within a day or so) answered by the Fostex support staff via e-mail on their web site. There is also a users forum on the Fostex site that addresses a lot of FAQ's. There is a lot of Fostex specific talk in that forum with quite a few of useful tidbits. Good luck.
