Finally I am A member!! This Forum is great and I have been Lingering for quite sometime, so its coll to finally be a member!

Heres my problem, hoping John or someone with this problem can help. I am just starting to formulate the plan for my studio construction, but need to move rather quickly as the need for an ISO booth is dire to me making money. My room is 21 feet long 15 feet wide ..and for the most part rectangular and is in the basement with carpeted floors , concrete underneath. The room has been finished to a family room and has become home to my studio equipment. I have baseboard heat, and a half (sheetrock) wall with the top of that wall acting as a ledge all the way around the perimiter of the room as to cover the foundation that protrudes. The ceiling is 9 feet sheetrocked with a center beam through the middle of the room (a support beam for the house i suppose).

1.My problem is this, This room is directly underneath my living room and considering most of my music is of the hip hop and R&B nature the loudness and bass coming through the ceiling into the upstairs living room is horrible. What is the best way to remedy this?? I want to make it as quiet as possible

2. What is the best (and not too expensive) way to build an iso booth within this room?....Should it be a room inside a room ? or can I use the existing walls to build?...I imagine a floating foor and ceiling will be better?...The room will 90% of the time be just for vocals.

Anyone out there do plans for a small setup like this?

any help would be appreciated!!

Doug
