New Bass

Whats up. I havent been playing bass too long. Maybe a year now on and off. Im taking it up seriously now and for 4 months going to be practicing my ass off for a band thats getting together for a second time and being serious about it now. Im thinking about buying the B.C. Rich Bronze Warlock Bass for 270....or The Dean Z Vintage Bass for 320. Hard descison because I heard the Dean Z was a great great Bass but If the BC isnt that much different I want to save money. And experience or opinions on either?!?! Thanks

I personally like the Dean's explorer style body shape better than the BC Rich's shape. I had one of their early Flying V copies but I was not too crazy about the headstock on it, on a crowded stage it was always bumping into stuff because it flaired out so much LOL!

i dont play bass, but just dont get the warlock, definately go with the dean z. The bassist in my band had one for a while and like it

Dean Z is pretty nice. My friend I used to jam with 3-4 years ago used to have a B.C. Rich, and that thing could not stay in tune for the life of it. The tone was definitely original, but won't match the Dean. I'd suggest checking out some Ibanez basses, for their price they aren't bad (soundgear series i believe). Also, I suggest checking out some Lotus basses from the 70's/80's, I absolutely adore mine and it was $75.

I have a Dean 6 string V shrimpfork headstock. It's mid eighties. Back in the 70ies and 80ies, BC Rich was a respected guitar company. When the Warlock first came out, they were somewhere in the neighborhood of $7-800.00. Now they're at GC for $100. Not the same materials I'm sure,but to even come out with that model at that price says a lot. They use to be pretty good guitars,and a bit expensive too. I'd look at ALL the guitars there from BOTH companies and see which ones are better built.
