I am going to build a home project studio (songwriting/rehearsal)
in my basement. I will be up against one existing block wall with a glass block window, putting up three (3) walls - two short and one long.
Space will be approx. 14' x 9' x 7' tall. I plan on boxing in a base for it, using a self-leveling compound and then applying flooring material. The balance of the construction will be wood framing and sheetrock walls. Ceiling will be dropped in order to add soundproofing.
What I need to know is this: What shall I do to most effectively ISOLATE this room from all sides and above? It's important that sound not permeate into the main part of the house.
Is there a material that any of you like to use inside the walls that is better than any other?
Also, what about parellel walls? I can build them parellel and then just use moveable panels to eliminate the "parellel-ness" can't I?
Actually, since this is a brand new project, and I've never done it before, I would welcome ANY comments and suggestions from out there. I guess cost is also a consideration, just FYI.
Hey, thanks a lot - I look forward to hearing from you!
