I could buy an older Project Studios B1 for $55, but I was just told that SP Just redid their B1 and added the 10/20 db pad switch, along with some low cutoff switches. Should I save up the additional 45 bucks and just buy the new one? Is it worth it?

Ive heard of this too. I'd say its worth saving the extra 40 bucks for no -10pad, or low cut, id never use the pad, but might use the cut.

My vote is don't worry about it for now...later on when the 'new' B1's have been around for a while catch one of those used. But then again, I always prefer to get my mics used.

I have a band coming into the studio in about 6 weeks...

That doesn't change my opinion... But it is just an opinion...

DANG. Why not buy the "older" B1, spend less than 20 bucks on a switch and resistors and make your own dB Pad!?

Nope, i checked out the SP website and now the B1 has the two pads and two low cuts...

Yeah, I got one of the new B1s a few months ago.

It has two switches.

A pad with 3 settings: flat, -10db, -20db

A low cut with 3 settings: flat, 75hz, 150hz

I like having the controls.

If you want those features, get a new one. If not, get an old one and use the extra money to buy beer. You could get three 12 packs of good beer for that price. That's about 5 days worth of beer!

;)

i got my b1 on ebay for $45 shipped, bump that $55 noise!
