this is a first draft mix of a song i'm working on...
probably will re-sing the whole thing,
but i had to figure out the arrangement.

just looking for some first impressions.

Hi Gonzo. I know you're not looking for mix advice at this stage, but reducing the ambiance on those guitars would make it easier to hear what's going on in the song. For me chorus is a letdown. That "out of the light" part doesn't really go anywhere. It doesn't add energy or build to a satisfying conclusion. And it isn't especially catchy. I'd give the chorus another go. Create a part that is more energetic and hooky. JMO.

the acoustic chain is the simplest of all chains...
taylor 414, into a shure ksm 44, directly into the preamps of a RME Babyface Pro interface.
after in, some eq to roll off some harsh or low end booboos, run into a LA2A clone plug, and now with much less verb as you suggest.

i'm going to keep working on this one....
probably try a new 'middle 8', and possibly re-write the chorus altogether,
