Holy shit..... has anyone seen the red Tama that Neil used to own on Ebay? I can see that it's really his! I need to borrow $31,000 fast! I think it's up to $12,000 now. I have no room but damn.... I NEED that set! ;)

Man I wish I could help you, or better yet have someone help me. it's beautiful. Good luck with that one :p

I was actually a bit surprised at how beat-up the kit looked...considering that it did go around the world a few times it shouldn't surprise me...but I've always read/heard that Neil's drum tech takes keeps his equipment in PRISTINE condition....

I would love to have that gong bass..

if I were selling that kit...I would at least set it up....

What's funny, is that they took the "sidemout" for the 12" double headed tom off of the 2 kicks (The left and the one behind).

Neil's 12" Toms had a special tom mouting system that mouted through the side of the kick drum, not through the "center" of the kick. They were available early on, but then TAMA quit making them, so I guess Neil must have pulled them when he sold the kit, to make sure that he at least had access to some of them if he ever went to double bass again.

Personally, whoever buys the kit for that much is getting screwed. Big deal, Neil Peart owned it. Does that REALLY make it worth 4 or more times what the set originally cost?
Not to me it doesn't.
If I were going to spend $30K on a kit, that fucker better be made of 24 karat GOLD! Or at least a Danney Carrey Paiste Signature Cymbal line drumkit (The shells of his new kit are made from melted Paiste Signature Cymbals.)....

Tim

I also noticed that Neil and Larry must have replaced the chrome with the stock pieces. That kit had brass colored hardware in all the photos of him..... unless of coarse there was more than one kit!

I'm with Tim Brown..

I think this fellow had high hopes.
I can see $15,000-$20,000..

I love Neil... Hell, he's even from my area.... But it's a Tama Kit....

If it were DW...Maybe...

But, I don't care who has banged on it, it''s still a Tama Artstar....:D

Don't get me wrong... I love Tama, and I even Play Tama.... But this is absurd...

$31,000,00 ???????

Does the heading under that bottom picture (guy playing kit) say Fart????

I know this is stretching it a bit, but.......

I can kind of see it like BB King selling the one and only "Lucille". How much do you think Lucille would sell for? If this kit is the only one he had, then that means it's the kit that we've heard many hit songs like Subdivisions and Big Money, Analog Kid, New World Man and hella more! "Big Frickin' deal you might say!!??" Well..... it is to me! That kit is a token of that era for musicians and even non musicians alike. IMO, Neil and that kit set many of the standards for drumming today! It's just my opinion on the matter and call me crazy but if I had the cash, that kit would be in my living room as we speak!!
Maybe I'll change my ID to CrazyRushfan33.:D

seems as if it were such a special set, it would be in better condition. i mean, come on, do you know what $31,000 could by you in DW drums?

huh???
does it have to be in good condition to be special? if, say, a jimi hendrix strat went up for sale and it was beat to shit....would it be any less special?? I think that it's special because Neil Peart toured with it for a couple of years and recorded a few great records with it.....

as far as the DW comment....once again - if a Hendrix strat came up for auction, I'm sure that it would be priced in the tens of thousands of dollars. Now you could buy a couple hundred strats for the price that the hendrix would sell for - right? but you're not getting the hendrix strat...just as you wouldn't be getting Peart's drumkit - but rather a bunch of DW drums....

to the right person...that kits worth every penny

I think you're missing the point.... it's not the manufacturer, or the fact the the set has a couple of scratches. That is not what makes this set so "special".

That kit is part of the mainstream musical history! Again it may not bear that kind of importance to people who don't like rush in the first plsce, or people who are just not nostalgic. To me..... it defines what drums were all about when I first started playing( back in the Grace Under Pressure album era. I watched and listened to Neil play that kit everyday and I would scroung up every penny I could to buy odds and ends peices so that my CB700 would look like his Tama. Just like many drummers, I was young, impressionable and because of Neil and THAT kit, My life changed. All I wanted to do was play drums and listen to Rush and be just like Neil Peart! Now.... I still can't beleive the shit he does and I still worship the guy but I no longer have the desire to BE him.
I still want that frickin' kit!!

I would think for $30,000 you could get Rush to play at your birthday party nowadays.

Okay.... I'd settle for that! :D

I think its the fact that its the prototype of the artstar series that makes it special and historic, after all this is not Bonham were talking about here. Im sure that Pert had a few kits along the way.

If it's his touring kit, then it's not his recording kit, because he had a different kit for each of those puposes.

Based on the mic jacks in the concert toms, and assuming that he does have one kit for each situation, I'd have to say that it's the touring kit.

Thanks,
Rf

Yeah, but Hendrix is dead, and had a 4 or 5 year career. At this point a relatively small number of his guitars still exist. Remember, a few of them went up in flames. Peart, on the other hand, probably has time to burn through a thousand more kits before he goes.
