Need some info

I'm not sure if this is where this should be posted, but since the end question concerns mastering, I thought I'd try it here.

A friend of mine recently passed away, and left his estate to my brother. We've been going through his things, and came across some software (all in their original packing). The software includes: Cakewalk 7, Cubase Score VST 3.5, Logic Audio Platinum 3.5, Sound Forge 4.5, and Wave Lab 2.0.

Now I already use Cool Edit Pro, but I'm wondering if someone could tell me if any of the software we found would be better suited for mastering, and also just what have we found? Thanks

Most of it is pretty old and out of date. Best use for it IMHO would be to register it so you would be entitled to purchase upgrades to newer versions.

I happen to like Wavelab for mastering, but I've never used CEP so I can't compare the two.

The other possible use is to simply install this stuff to access the included plugins. For ex., Sound Forge has a DX plugin called Wave Hammer that is pretty good for bringing the volume up on a stereo mix. If you install SF you should get use of Wave Hammer in CEP. Not the most efficient use of disk space, but if you have the space it might be worth it.
