A question to all who like to record using am amp.
I like to record with a line out of my amp, a Fender Twin late 80's.
I use the line out from the forst stage, thru a Behringer DI box and into my mixer.
I would like to record at night about 3am as I get up for work anyway at 5am so if I can get a couple of hours in with no interruptions it would be magic.
Here's the question, if I took a line from the speaker out into the DI box would it do any damage to the amp. I have always been under the impression that you should never run an amp without the speakers plugged in as it causes damage to the amp. But I have also heard that you can use the DI box instead of the speakers.
If I can it would be great as I could get the guitar sound I want ,silently and hear it thru headphones and the non recording members of my family and neighbours would be none the wiser.
Anyone know?
Also to everybody out there, have a happy Xmas and hope the new year treats you OK.

You may wish to fit a switch and jack similar to my Boogie's if you're reasonably confident in your abilites. Your friend and mine Dick Smith will have all the parts you require.
