I need some help on getting a good sound on a 6 piece drum set. Right now I'm limited to 8 channels of recording, and I'm using the Firepod to record with. I'm using Samson mics for bottom of snare, one samson kick mic, two samson condensors for overheads and a shure 57 for the top of the snare, and a sure sm58 for the room mic. I'm fixing to buy another firepod to add more channels to add a couple more mics for the toms, but I was wanting to see some pictures of some of your mic set up on your drums. If that is ok with everyone? Any ideas or suggestions on good mic placements? Thanks in advance.

An SM58 isn't going to do very well as a room mic, they don't "hear" very well from a distance. You could use the 58 under the snare if you wanted instead of the samson mic if you think that sounds better. Or if you wanted you could use it on the kick with your other kick drum mic to get the faster attack and midrange that some kick mics aren't good at, try putting the 58 inside the kick and the samson on the outside or vice versa.
