Need Help From "serious" Producers

Wuts Up,

This is LYNX. I been on the mic for almost 10 yrs now and signed with a minor record label (SIZE 10 PRODUCTIONS) about 2 years ago. Problem is that I live in the Virgin Islands and the label is in Cleveland, Ohio. Right now, they make my beats and send them to me, I record them here at a studio located on ST Thomas and then send it back up to Cleveland to be mixed and mastered. WHOA!!!!!!! This long distance relationship just doesn't cut it. Takes too long and I lose inspiration! I would move back up to the states but.................well............long story!
I said F___ it and am building my own studio. Can any "SERIOUS" producers give me some heads up on what I need. I already got a Casio 1600 with MIDI in and out, a computer with proper soundcard, monitors, and drum machine. Remember Im an MC, this is all new to me. HEEEELLLLPPPP!!!!

hey man sounds like to me is all you need is some software and a mic and your set right?

what I got, a computer a board a mic and a mixer and thats it
homy making albums and shyt the problem I have is fucken extracting a instrumentals from a cd onto my software
 
I mean what is the purpose of ya set up ? Pre productions, just getting some ideas down ?

For starters you will need a good mic and all the accessories that yyou need for a mic set up... (mic stand, Popper stopper,cabling etc.) for more specfics on your mic do a search in the Microphone forum.....

Need a computer a with atleast 1Ghz processor, alot of ram and fast harddrives....
You will need a sound card with professional input/outputs......
Echo Layla, Delta 1010, Pro Tools...


You will need to invest in a good audio editing software....(Wave Lab, Soundforge etc...)

You also will need a Multitrack software.. (Nuendo, Logic, Cubase, Cool Edit etc....)

And some plugins (which are basically your effects)


This set here will allow you to get some ideas down..... By allowing you to record your vocals on what instrumental you load into your Multitrack software....
