My first post! Apologies if this is the wrong forum...

How do I connect a computer internet style headset + microphone to a sound board?

The headset is fairly straight forward; stereo 3.5mm to stereo 1/4". I am having trouble with the stereo 3.5mm microphone plug. The headset microphone operates correctly into the computer soundcard. The headset microphone did not produce any output when using a mono 3.5mm to mono 1/4" adaptor into the sound board. Stereo 3.5mm to stereo 1/4" adaptor to the sound board did not work, either. Should I be using a 3.5mm stereo to 1/4" mono adaptor or perhaps 3.5mm stereo to dual 1/4" mono plugs and consume 2 channels on the board? Thanks in advance for replies!

The ring of the "stereo" 3.5mm connector is supposed to carry a 5V bias current to run the electret capsule in the mic. If you don't supply that voltage, the microphone won't work.

I verified when plugged into the sound card mic jack, the ring has 5vdc on it. Thank you very much, Don!
