Hello!

After some helpful suggestions from some people on this forum about Nearfield Monitors, I still find I’m not any closer, if anything I’m further away, from making a decision on a pair of decent Nearfield monitors in the £250/$460 price range. In the poll are the pairs I’ve been suggested or found so far.

If anyone can other me suggestions on any other monitors to test out or experience with any of the above monitors, please let me know! I record a broad range of rock music and I need monitors to Mix down efficiently for when it transfers to other general speakers.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me! Everyone on heres been great! :)

I would also love a few suggestions for $200 or less monitors.

For that price, you could also walk out the door with new Bx8a monitors.

O yeah! Thanks for pointing that out! :) Anyone else got any suggestions?

yorkville ysm1 are nice low budget selection

lol! You were one of the ones that suggested the KRK Rokit 5s! You never said anything about Event! Never really heard of them! What are they like?

I have the wharfedale 8.2 pro actives... I have noticed a hell of a difference in my mixes since i started using them. They are great and i got mine new for £200 :)

Get the Blue Sky Media Desk system.

Seriously. They will trounce everything in the price range. A lot of the guys on GS use them, as well as elsewhere...

if you dont like them, I will buy them from you. I love them. They are phenomenal for referencing mixes.

If you're planning on spending less than $500, take a look at the Wharfedale 8.2. ($249 / pair) 6.5" woofer, active bi-amped, and they sound good too. They have much better bass response than anything else I looked at in the price range (which typically meant 5" woofers) and better midrange than the M-audio Bx8's which are twice the price.

I challenge anyone who is looking for a pair of Speakers to mix./reference on to grab the Blue Sky media desk...I promise if you do not like them, I will personally by them from you.
