Muttley, now it's your turn to say (in the least provocative and most professional manner possible) that Jimi wouldn't know a pro guitar finish job if it bit him on the ass.

Nah, I'll leave that to you. But I have sprayed Poly on a lot of BA Corporate Jet burr post formed panels galley heads, bulkheads, Rolls Royce custom dash (I served my apprenticeship there), flat burr panels by the mile, tons of bespoke furniture, lacquers over silver and brass at Boosey and Hawkes Musical Instruments and sprayed more pots of nitro than I care to remember on guitars as an authorised repair shop for a few of the big guns for the last 15 years. Never done a helicopter though. All in all 30 years in the trade, more than half exclusively on guitar manufacture and not a week goes by when I don't do some finishing even if its just blowing out witness lines on repairs. And I wouldn't consider myself that good yet.

I wasn't starting a flame war. I'm just trying to pass on some advice. Anyone can choose to ignore or accept it. The facts are out there its up to the individual to draw their own conclusions. Like I said if you really want to, go for it but be aware of what you are doing and do some serious research first, don't treat the stuff casually. I really am sure that Jimi did a first rate job on his Strat project. I just don't think its a good idea to promote the process in such a way thats all.

The reranch spray cans shoot the paint extreamly well and really impressed me. Saying that one cannot get pro results with the spray can nitro laquar from reranch is just not true.

You're right.
I misspoke,, the aerosols im talking about are not going to shoot paint just as good as a good air sprayer.

I'll put it this way, they shoot paint more evenly...without sputtering, and splotching... than any aerosols I've ever used before.

Plenty good enough to do a nitro laquar guitar finish.
That being said, on an entire 57 chevy body I would probably want an air powered paint rig.
