hey folks. considering picking up an MD8, but here's my conundrum. like most other folks, i want to be able to dump the tracks into my comp and screw around with em in there.

here's my setup:

Event EZBus > lightpipe > E-MU 1212 card > PC (Cubase, etc.)

Can i dump all 8 tracks at once into the 8 ins of the EZBus and, recording via Lightpipe, get 8 discrete tracks in Cubase?

if so, apart from the D/A and back again, are there any inherent problems with this plan?

please note: the MD8 will be used predominantly for demo'ing stuff in our rehearsal room.

thanks in advance!

My gosh,...

Yes!!

PS: Find a supply of MD-Data discs at http://www.musiciansfriend.com for about $10/ea.

OOPS! MDD for $14.99/ea! $9.99 must have been a SALE price!! Note: watch for the cut-rate sales on items like this.

Man, is this site sucky-slow,...

or what?

Data Minidisc at Musicians Friend dot com:

See: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search/detail/base_id/35303

PS: Implied here, is that the MD8 and other minidisc multitrackers REQUIRE the DATA MINIDISC 140 for multitracking.

"Regular" over the counter 60-, 74- and 80-minute minidiscs will work for STEREO recording ONLY,... (2-tracks/stereo).

You want your MD8 to record 8-tracks in multitrack? You'll need the DATA-Minidisc 140. They're slightly costlier than "regular" minidiscs, but they're worth it!!
