Greetings All,
I finally got a chance to get back online long enough to post. Well as some of you may know, I purchased a V69. I had been using a V67 for this particular application. Well anyway here are my non-pro comments about this differences my non-experienced ears could here from last sundays session.

Chain = V69 (with power supply on) > SP VTB-1 ( with Gain on )>Tascam DM24 pre (XLR Phantom off) > Sonar XL 2.2

The first difference I noticed was the gain. I had to back the pop filter off it some as well as decrease the VTB-1 input and output settings. I was using a few sets of the Moreme headphones while tracking and I really wasnt liking what I was hearing. Then I decreased the headphone amp volume and things were a lot more pleasable. So I track 1 main vox of my partner then two adlibs. Then I got on the mic with the same settings. Even with the pop filter at the same position I could here a little hotness or disturtion with my voice, even at the same levels as my partner. So I back the pop filter up some more and I felt like it was too far back so I moved it back. Then I decreased the gain a little on the VTB-1 and then it sounded pretty decent. So I track 1 main vox from myself as well a 2 adlibs.

All vox were done with no EQ ( just flat).
Time for playback. I started with the first main vocal and listened to it over the monitors ( still flat). Sounds pretty good. Added a little compression,, sounds even better ! Applied the same compression setting to all the vocals. Got them leveled. Panned the adlibs here and there. Turned up the mains and damn,,, we just looked at each other and smiled. I have found the presence I have been looking for. I know it could be better, but based on the simple things I did I was pleased.

Overall,, the V69 had more presence, more up front, and had a little highness or airness or shine or whatever you wanna call it while the Eq was still flat. Thats bout the sum of it. I had more work to do. But I can only imagine how it will sound when I really mix it.

So im thinking the V69 may give me too much presence compared to my tracks. I could compress the tracks indiviually to get them up there, but im gonna try a mix without any compression first to see how it sounds.

Cant wait to learn the V69 a little more, then Im modding it. LOL

The V67g was pretty good, but no where near the V69 for what we do.

Summary ( from a non-pro and based on what we do) in order for me to get the V67g to sound close to the V69 ( in flat mode ) I would have to boost the compression on the V67g as well as boost some of the high end. But I dont think it would sound as smoothe.
