Hi guys I joined this forum because I want to learn more about recording and stuff. Everything I've done so far has been me stabbing in the dark and I only kinda know what I'm doing. If anyone could be so kind as to listen to my stuff and share some opinions I'd appreciate it. So far I've shared it on some forums where the general attitude is "hooray everyone is wonderful" which you know, doesn't offer much to think about. Have at it....

PS - The 7 songs at the top were all done in 2012 (with the exception of one - Crybaby). Hopefully those are better than the others which are from years gone by. Thanks people.

I listened to Creepy Tom. I really like the vocals. Very good singing and very good harmonies.

I thought the guitars all sounded a little too distorted and muffled. I'd back off the gain and make sure you capture more high end when tracking. Actually the guitar I hear in the chorus isn't too bad.

Bass level is a little inconsistent. It's a little boomy in spots.

One of those guitars playing a riff sounded like it had a string or two out of tune. I noticed a couple of bum notes near the beginning and near the end.

I would just like to say I really like your stuff man, especially "Hopeless." It's my kind of music.

These mixes are not at all how I would do them. Not at all. But.... having said so, I think they definitely fit the context of your music. So I can't really critique them.

One thing I should say, is that the drummer sounded really stiff or something with "My shoes." I don't know how to describe it but it sounded as if the drummer was having difficulty in knowing when to play.

Thanks guys, I'll keep that in mind. The gain knob is something to be used delicately. I think i had it pointing straight up on the tom song. I'm playing all the instruments, I remember doing the drums for my shoes in two takes. I just got the drum kit and I was a bit nervous playing it, because I live in a townhouse. So far I've used the kit on three or four new songs and I haven't had any complaints yet so I'm not too worried about it anymore.
