I haven't recorded anything in close to 4 years and the stuff is just taking up space at this point. :o

It's all listed here;

http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/msg/1579889442.html

And ideally, this is all designed for local pick-up only so if you're in the Toronto area or feel like a nice drive, come grab some stuff and help out a fellow analog brother.

Cheers! :)

Jeff,

I'm both sad to hear it and wish I lived closer at the same time.

You sure, man? I mean we're in the middle of winter... the edge of Jan/Feb, AKA “The Threshold of Hell” so we're not supposed to make big decisions. ;)

Yeah, I'm sure but still with a pretty heavy heart about the whole thing. :o

The work situation in Toronto is pretty bleak still and my unemployment insurance runs out in a few months so, realistically, I have to consider the option of moving to a smaller, cheaper place to preserve my savings as much as possible. And if I do that, I just won't have the space to store it like I do right now, in a 2 bedroom apt and just me in it.

Anyway, so far, I've gotten a few emails but only on some of the smaller items and no serious buy offers on any of that so...we'll see what happens.

Cheers! :)

bands

Have you given any thought to using some of your recording stuff to make a couple bucks recording some of the bands around your area that dont want to spend 60-80 dollars an hour for normal studio time? Even if you charged a 3rd of that youd be doing them a favor and still making more than alot of people do hourly.

I live in an apartment building. It's impossible to bring a band in here unless I was looking to get evicted real quick! :D

Cheers! :)

I'm sorry to see you list all of your stuff.

I hope things get better,

VERY sad Mr. Ghost. Have you considered starting a related, but different type of business that might support your equipment habits? I own a commercial building here that is only 25% occupied and no good prospects for getting more than that (15% unemployment in my county). I've started promoting a "media conversion" business where people bring me their old records, family tapes, videos and films and I convert them to DVD or cd. I have run 3 ads in the past year. The first barely paid for the publishing (I made $20). The second didn't come close. I just ran the third and have more coming in than I can handle at the moment. Right now I am dumping a bunch of kiddie albums to the computer for later processing and burning to cd. I have a backlog of about 30 VHS tapes after I get the 7 kiddie albums done. I'm not getting rich at this by any means, but it's keeping me busy and bringing in a few bucks that wouldn't have been here otherwise, AND I get to keep my hands on my equipment (even if much of it is now digital). I also did my first location recording in about 30 years over the weekend. That might also be an alternative for you (this is where digital comes in handy).

Thanks for those ideas! They're viable I suppose but I am trying to get into professional photography at the moment and am running out of time, should I need to move within the next few months. As well, I have received several responses to my ad on Craig's list at this point so, much of the gear will hopefully be gone shortly, making this a moot point.

Honestly, all I need right now is buyers for this stuff, regrettable as that might seem to you guys.

Cheers! :)

Sorry to hear that man.

If you can't sell the Tascam MS16 locally and would consider shipping it, keep me in mind.

Are you selling all your instruments, or will you still have a guitar or something left over, in case you feel like playing music now and then? It would be weird, but I could stand selling off my gear, but I would really miss having something to play.

Cheers,

Otto

Joel,

Thanks for your interest in the MS-16.

When I moved it the last time, it took an incredible effort to find the right kind of boxes and packing materials to bundle it up safely for a trip across town that I was doing myself and it ended up being separated into 6 separate boxes which I managed to get from a TV store I used to work in. This was in the days when 36" tube TV sets were still being made as that's the size box required for the roll-around cart. Then a 27" TV box was needed for the transport and then a few 20" TV boxes for the other components of the deck. All in all, it was a tremendous task to do back when these boxes were readily available. Now, I have no idea where I'd find large and sturdy enough containers to put it all in. To mention nothing of the shipping costs to send it from Toronto, Canada to Nebraska!:D

This is why I'm hopeful of finding a local buyer first and foremost. The alternatives are very ugly.

Cheers! :)

Yes, all of my instruments are listed in the ad too. I do have tremendous sentimental value in these things but the reality is that I haven't touched them in years so the practical side of me is telling me its time to part with them. :o

Cheers! :)

Dude,

Hate to see you leaving your gear. But, please at least stick around here. Your insight and knowledge is most welcome, and maybe in the interim, you can track vicariously through us...:(

Also, U-Haul has 27" TV boxes for sale, and they are good for shipping. I shipped a MSR-16 in one. Got some insulation from Home Depot, and lots and lots of peanuts and bubble wrap. It cost about US$ 30 or so for one box including the insulation and packing stuff.

However, YOU HAVE TO KEEP THE SG!

I fully plan on sticking around here so no worries about that! ;)

About the SG, I do have a $1500 asking price on it so odds are it ain't gonna sell all that quickly! :D

Or, I'll be extremely surprised if it does!

Cheers! :)

So sorry to see this happening, but like the others have said I hope you stick around. Hope your luck turns around, too.

Well, one of the M312B's is now sold! Had to deliver it to him downtown but I charged him an extra 25 bucks for delivery and everyone was happy. Turns out he knew me from the board here as he's one of thousands of people that come here to read but not necessarily to post. If you're reading this, Derek, thanks again! ;)

Cheers! :)

Just wanted to put it out-there that Jeff's been an absolute professional and a Gentleman, when I conducted business with him. He's one of those rare individuals that you should not hesitate. It pains me that Jeff's having to sell his stuff but whomever is local and is looking for good deals, on the said gear, should look no further. Heck, if I were in the neighborhood and was still shy of analogue gear, I'd jump on the opportunity. Good luck Jeff and I hope everything works out for ya. :)

I checked out your gear list...and if there was anything I needed at this time, I wouldn't hesitate to help you out with the sale...though, I'm also not that close for any pick-up. :(

Well, I guess you're forum handle has sorta' taken on a more specific meaning for you now...but I know where you are coming from.
There comes a time when you have to let go of some stuff even if it breaks your heart to do so.

Good luck with the photography!
Funny...that was something I gave up about 30 years ago when I was faced with the decision to either buy into a lot of pro photo gear or to pursue my music/recording interests.

I almost decided to completely step away from the recording/music about 12 years ago after a 3-4 year lull...but then I instead went totally the opposite, and dove into it even deeper! :D
Now I'm here to stay for the duration...regardless.... :)
