I got my first radio airplay, dec 30th at about 11:10 on WLIR's Tri State Sound.
I have to give huge thanks to everyone here for their recording guidance. I'll be posting some samples so everyone can critique my mix before it becomes final, as soon as I get a new mobo and get my new DAW running.
I did my own mastering with ozone 2, but I didnt use too much peak limiting. It must have been the way the compressors at the radio station were set, because compared to the "pro" mix that followed, my song was so alive.
If I can pass on one recording lesson from this experience, its that louder truly is not better. I had always heard that, but until I heard my un-peak limited mix agaisnt a squashed pro mix on the radio it didnt really mean anything.
